Jameis Winston (QB New Orleans Saints)

Saints' Jameis Winston talks improvement after LASIK eye surgery

Jameis Winston is improving more than just his mindset this season after signing a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints this week.

Winston told reporters Wednesday that his vision has significantly improved since undergoing LASIK eye surgery in February.

“I can read license plates. I can read street signs. I think the precision in the vision is the biggest difference,” he said.

“No blurriness, and I think that’s huge. Depth perception has increased tremendously and those are the big things. I didn’t have bad eyes, I just had astigmatism. I had certain things that they had to fix to increase the precision and the sharpness of my vision.”

The Saints announced Tuesday that they agreed to a one-year contract with Winston, who will now have to compete for the No. 2 spot with Taysom Hill.

Re: Yes, in most cases, LASIK can fully correct astigmatism, and the effect is permanent. ... Despite having a somewhat scary-sounding name, astigmatism is not an eye disease — it's simply a refractive error like nearsightedness and farsightedness — and it can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses and LASIK surgery.

You mean nobody at Free Shoes U or at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers identified this problem; and got him glasses, contacts, and/or LASIK, etc. to correct it....unbelievable.

Yes, it is unbelievable actually and so, I don't believe it.

I'm willing to wager his issues stem from poor decision making more so than not being able to clearly read the opposing jersey number he just chucked another one too.

In other words, you can't fix stupid. Even with Lasik surgery.

Well, he did make a lot of poor "off the field" or non-football related decisions while at free Shoes U.

However, I'm not sure he is really "stupid", maybe he just lacks some good old fashioned "common sense":

Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston -- considered to be in a two-horse race with Marcus Mariota for the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft -- scored a 27 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test, multiple sources have told Yahoo Sports. If true, that's just one point shy of Peyton Manning's score.
An average score on the Wonderlic -- used by the league as an aptitude test for incoming prospects -- is 20.

True.

I have just always lumped impulse control issues under the general heading of "being a dumbass"

Then again, my daughter told me once I was Red Forman because I call everyone a dumbass so take it fwiw.

Man steals over $300 in crab legs from Walmart, police say

A robber with interesting taste is wanted for stealing crab legs from Walmart.

On Aug. 22 at approximately 4:50 PM, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a shoplifting at the Walmart on Shelby Drive.

When officers arrived, they were told a man walked into the business, placed a large box of crab legs in a shopping cart, and left without paying.

The total value of the crab legs was $330, police said.

The suspect fled in a red Chevy Camaro.

The tag on the vehicle was not registered and is no longer on the car, police said.

The suspect was a man with a dark complexion, thin-medium build, possibly over 6′0′ tall. He wore a black and white cap with a mushroom in the center, a red graphic shirt with a white star and blue around the neck, red pants, and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Dugger with Ridgeway GIB at 901-636-4535.
