thread hijack alert, but this thread's from August, so what the hell.

Is this Harriman guy related to the one that owned the RR in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"?

Remember the guy inside the train car with the safe, saying:

"I work for Mr. E.H. Harriman of the Union Pacific Railroad.."

right before they blew the hell out of that boxcar?

I'm sure he is, because EH had a son named Averill, who actually had Bush's grandfather, before he was Senator Prescott Bush, working for him. Prescott Bush worked for Brown Brothers Harriman, a Wall Street Investment Banking firm, back in the 1920s and 1930s.
While we are on full hijack alert .. in a politics oriented thread ..
E.H. Harriman was the subject of a recent PBS special:
http://www.pbs.org/harriman/1899/1899_part/participantharriman.html
which concerns his Alaskan expedition in 1899.
On a completely different tack
It was well known that Mrs E.H. Harriman was a supporter of eugenics back in the 1920's.
Back then a lot of folks thought quite highly of "racial purity" sadly, not all of them are easily pigeon-holed as fascists or wackos.

that article was funny stuff...In another quip he makes fun of texas, when asked "do you root against the president's texas longhorns?" he replies "I certainly don't root for them. The thing about UT is they're arrogant. I just haven't figured out what they have to be arrogant about."

that one sounds more like mic*igan to me...
