Javon Ringer (Former RB Michigan St.)

I think the Sanders comparison is a nice one. Obviously, no one is Barry Sanders, but when a kid runs like Ringer does, no other superlative works. Ringer seems to have the same creativity that Sanders had when it came to eluding tacklers. I don't think Ringer is as quick as Sanders was, but to make up for it he uses a little more power. Pound for pound, Ringer has the best stiffarm I've ever seen.

Aren't all offers contingent upon academic status? Why not offer Javon now with the caveat that he must achieve a certain GPA in the class room to be a Buckeye?

I am not sure I get the "wait and see" stance from OSU...just bake those concerns into the offer and let the kid get to work with one less variable to worry about.
May be the Florida (D. Kennedy and others) situations have some thing to do with not offering until they are academically sound. It did not look good when we pulled Kennedy's schoolie, and it certaintly will not look good pulling a schoolie from an Ohio kid.

Photo from DDN on Javon's team (Dayton CJ) over Northmont 39-36

Javon rushed for an unofficial 300 yds

At first, Javon Ringer didn't want to talk. The game had taken too much from him. The emotion was etched on his face like it had been chiseled onto a mountain.

"I want to be with my team right now," he said going by in a whoosh toward the postgame huddle, much like the Chaminade-Julienne running back had bounced around Welcome Stadium for an unofficial 300 yards in C-J's 39-36 victory against Northmont on Thursday night.

In the end, his team dashed 75 yards in 1:05 to score the winning touchdown with 4 seconds left before the stadium went bananas.

"On a scale of 1 to 10, this was an 11," Ringer said after catching his breath and listening to the post-game prayer. "Great fans. Probably one of the biggest games of the season."

Then he sighed.

"And it was just the first one."

I believe the staff doesn't want to potentially dissuade other backs they are recruiting (like Wells and Stewart) with a commitment to Ringer unless and until they are sure he qualifies.

Opposing recruiters are sure to use Ringer's acceptance at tOSU as a reason for Wells and/or Stewart to matriculate elsewhere.

PS -- Is there something in the water over in Dayton/Middletown? They sure turn out some studs. Wish I could bottle whatever it is and use it myself.

What are the chances we get Ringer and Wells? I'd say good. But I'm an optimist.....

I'd say pretty good as well. We will only have two running backs on scholarship next year and at worst they will both be true sophomores. We definitely need a couple more. I'd settle for Ringer and Wells and another Wells the year after
