Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

This rumor pops up every year. Usually because Nike makes some jersey to be sold in stores (like the gray #13's they had out a couple years back) and people run with it. The only thing they will ever change would be the width of the stripes or the size/location of the numbers.

Damn, I was really hoping for a new uniform. Maybe one sleeve long and no sleeve on the other side. The best look with our home and away uniforms would be to make that sleeve a flame design with blue and yellow flames. I bet those geniuses at Nike can make that look EXCELLENT!!!

Nike's not the only supplier of uniforms in the country... I'd say it's more likely that the contract terms would be paid off, and they'd never do business with OSU again... I don't think they'd like the direction things would likely lead after that... AD's do talk to each other, after all

Our home uniforms are virtually unchanged since 1968 (the road whites have had several different stripe variations). I doubt very seriously that we dick with our uniforms, especially while Tressel is head coach.

I think it would be a pretty monumental change, tho I would not rule anything out with Nike. While a far lesser change, I hated the semi-transparent, dirty white pants our guys wear now (I guess shiny silver to match the helmets made too much sense... clashing whites looks much better). Definitely takes our road uni's down a big notch.

Seeing the stunts they have pulled at a number of other universities, I would not put anyone past them.

Does the university have total control over what they look like? Or, is it more of a compromise based on sales?

I can't imagine that Oregon authorized those piles of horse shit that their players were wearing.

I just hope all they do is update the material to the new neoprene/spandex material that's in underarmor. Leave it looking exactly the same, but with the new material. If it helps the players out that's fine by me. Besides, with the skin-tight jerseys, a lucky tackle on Ginn by way of a shirt grab would be much more difficult.
