Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Thought there's a lot to work with other than the black nameplates...the big numbers worked unexpectedly well. It's still jarring as opposed to the three previous Pro Combat sets which were all markedly different from the usual kit.

I think the new helmet could be the standard next year (maybe with the normal stripe width), and would like the seven stars on the collar. I'd love to see the hooped socks from the 2009 Pro Combats make an appearance, but don't think there's much chance of that.

Nothing about these uniforms was such a fashion faux pas that anyone has a reasonable basis to whine about them. If the kids like them, then keep them.

And for those saying "fuck Nike," fine, go ahead and write the $20 million check to the athletic department so we don't need to pay attention to their wishes.

Shit. TOSU is gonna sell $20 million in t-shirts tomorrow.

But with that said. These ones weren't nearly as distracting as some of the ones from the last couple years. Could've been a lot worse.

Oh, and fuck Nike...:)

This uniforms would have been TOP NOTCH if they would have had gray stripes on the sleeve.

I was dreading the helmet... But I LOVE'd it!!!

Pants, very similar to our current ones, but with a modern twist!

I would not mind if this becomes our "standard" uniforms... As long as gray is incorporated into the sleeve.

Next year, we go 13-0... Roll into the NC game with a 25 game winning streak (schedule sets up nice for it!!!)... Warm up in these uniforms... Go in for the pregame talk... Storm the field wearing ALL BLACK!!!!!!!!!!

Recruits, current players and at least 50% of fans would LOVE it and go crazy... Everyone else and SHUT UP! :)

Unlike most pro combat designs, these just need a few tweaks. The shiny pants age painfully obvious.

A visible outline color is also painfully obvious. Instead of highlighting it with light gray, they instead made the oversized letters chunky by seemingly using a bolder don't.

The stripe was a little overboard but I don't mind it. I do mind the cartoonish size. Normal stripe dimensions with normal leaves and you have a killer design. The iridescent leaves came off too light. But I can deal with them for a fun diversion.

Overall it was a great concept with average execution. I have been pushing for shiny light gray numbers with matching old school shiny pants. getting medium gray shiny numbers is a plus. Obvious the promotion on matching pants isn't ending anytime soon.

There are always criticisms here and there but I really liked these and this team overall. I would have loved one of these jerseys for my Buckeye room.

The foil leaves will look great on your Trapper Keeper!

Ditch the 60's x-mas aluminum decoration stripe & leaves.
Finish the leg stripes.
Trim the black around the shoulder stripe.

Nike doesn't make anything on the helmets other than the visors.
I don't understand why people keep confusing helmet manufacturers with uniform designers.

They don't have to make the helmets to make the uniform design. Adidas doesn't make helmets either but magically their helmets match the "Letter to the P" campaign uniforms.

C'mon, adidas can't even outfit UMich in the same cut jersey, and this has been going on all year. They also have shown no ability to put full stripes on their TechFit uniform; see UCLA for example (which may be an example of not matching helmets to jersey color).

HGI doesn't get Nike's approval and Nike doesn't get HGI's blessing, it all goes through OSU and what they want to do with the kit. I don't know how big of a hand the players have in the design or if it goes through the merchandising and licensing arm of the university.
