SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

I just think ultimately he's too conservative and old school to ever win a championship...unless he complies a team like one of the vintage Lil Nicky Saban Bama teams that just has an overwhelming talent advantage, especially in the trenches. I doubt he can put together one of those kind of teams at tsun but we'll see.
There's a giant roadblock to an "overwhelming talent advantage" four hours to the south. For as well as they're recruiting, Urban and company are running laps around them. I see the Harbrau as a Marv Levy...he'll consistently have teams that will compete at a high level, but just cannot get over the hump. Hell, he had how many NFL players on last year's roster? And he still found a way to finish third in his division and lose three games, including a back breaking loss to his rival that played an absolutely terrible game.

To put it in perspective, tOSU had one of the youngest teams in the country and a clown show calling the offense and still won 11 games and made the playoff. They had their most loaded team in a decade and finished third in the division. And the talent gap ain't narrowing.

I don't want him to go to the NFL because they will be able to tell themselves they were cheated, robbed, he left them etc etc etc

I want them to have to deal with their savior failing. Completely and utterly. The DBFIA equivalent of a kid seeing Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny die in an accident together on the front lawn while his parents tell him he's adopted, Dad is gay and the women he thought was Mom is leaving because she never loved him anyway.

I want that level of disillusionment and soul crushing loss of faith in their savior

I want suicide hotline calls to go unanswered from high call volumes

I want to see my enemy driven before me and hear the lamentation of their women

Until they quit the fucking sport, folks.

Until they quit the fucking sport.

Dad?

scUM's recruiting has really tailed off this year.

They are currently #20 in the 247 team rankings, with just ten commitments, an average of 90.91 per recruit (compared to 95.70 for Ohio State), no commitments in the top 100 (best is #106), and five commitments outside of the top 300 (including #435, #601, and an NR).

scUM is the Crystal Ball leader for the following recruits: #64, #111, #217, #504, and #868 and that's about it.

Ohio State already has the #1 recruiting class and they are the Crystal Ball leader for the following recruits: #5, #8, #13, #20, #38, #69, #115, #168, and #196, plus they are still in the running for a few other top recruits like Jayson Oweh (#177, 33% CB to tOSU).

After losing 44 seniors plus the greatest college football player of all-time, the cupboard is getting a little bare in Ann Arbor and the Harbrau can't afford to have a mediocre recruiting class in 2018.

but they did just beat out umass, rutgers, and east carolina for an unranked tight end who doesn't even have a rivals or espn recruiting profile... perhaps, in part, because he had 5 receptions last season.
Going into this class, I expected a much more convservative approach a la OSU last year in that they were basically only taking 5 stars or high 4 stars. Maybe we don't have the appeal of that level yet? I don't know. It's going to be really interesting to whom the last 6-9 spots go.
Apparently stars aren't the end-all for Harbaugh. He could have easily held out for a four star. To me that's quite refreshing.
Based on history it's also the wrong approach. I'm sure Dabo, urban, jimbo, and Saban feel like bad that they perennially contend for championships as opposed to once every 3-4.
Seems like a weird guy to add when you're in a numbers crunch and he only has mac/rutgers offers but trust in harbaugh I guess.
Is he the prospect that Ruckert is? Not as of today. I would bet that he will get more receptions by the time he leaves school that Ruckert does though.
Don't love this but I trust Harbaugh. If we get 2 kids higher on the board to join the class do we let this kid go ? So far Harbuahg has moved on from a commit in each class he has been here. Will this class be any different ?
I'm sure he's good but it seems like you could kick the tires with Luke Ford and then offer schoonmaker in October.
Not how Harbaugh operates. if it's a position of need he will take a flyer early. sometimes they end up signing, sometimes they don't.
Michigan coaches can coach up. But damn, wish they'd start pulling in 5 stars, not barely 3 stars. This is Michigan fergodsakes. That said, I hope for the best.
This take is old. It is a proven fact that the more stars a kid has, the more likely they are to be good. Yes Harbaugh may be better than average at finding diamonds in the rough, but the rule still is mostly true.
Anyone who isn't disappointed going from hopefully ruckert to this guy is lying to themselves. Strange to de this kid as a take this early in a small class, hard to believe the staff couldn't have reeled him in later after seeing more how the class shapes up. This current recruiting cycle is pretty underwhelming relative to what other top recruiting schools do with small classes.
The class is decent but ohio state is doing well and we don't have any top 100 guys. Hopefully thompson and Friday come here because both are elite top 50/100 guys.
That's not a bad average rating in the grand scheme of things, but it doesn't help that the main rival is raking in another outrageous class with an average rating of 95.70.

To put that into perspective if Ohio State's average class rating was a recruit, it would be the #93 overall recruit in the nation on 247Composite. Michigan's 90.91 would be the #263 overall recruit.
This feels like RR all over again. Who's coaching tight ends? An old RR disciple you say? Ok, now I get it.
Why are you comparing Chris Evans, 4* and #189 overall recruit, to Luke Schoonmaker, 3* and #1748 overall recruit?

Does not seem like an apt comparison...
I could go on...

Give some of us about 4 hours please
Kid caught 5 passes last year.....FIVE. Now hes the answer at TE? Yeah, I get it, he played QB. So why is this a committable offer right now? Because he's tall? Because he claims a 4.5 40? Because he caught a couple passes wearing shorts and T shirt? Just a weird class so far, needed to validate the great 17 class with some backup. So far I see maybe 3 kids that are capable of playing as frosh.
It seems that most want to trust the staff to develope these 2-3 star recruits. That is fine, except that we are also using as a potential for a mediocre season (9-3) and inability to compete with the Bama's and OSUs this year, the excuse that our Jr and Sr classes aren't as physically talented. Yes, the Sr class was Brady's, but if our staff is as advertised, then those those recruits should be ready NOW. Please give me the 4-5 stars.
A head scratcher at this juncture.
So, you pollute this site with your extreme pessimism, too?

Keep drooling over 5-star recruits.
Those 5 star recruits take teams to the playoffs. You must be one of those guys that likes 3rd place in the BIG East. As long as everyone is having fun right?
I don't think this guy stays in the class. The season will go well and other TEs with more stars will take his place. It's not "fair" but life's not fair.

If, by the grace of God, they lose a couple of games early on, I might have to stop going to work.
