Really? (Past 5 years)

2009: 29-6 (1st place Big Ten, conference tourney champs, Sweet 16, B1G POY, 1 AA, 1 First Team All B1G)

2010: 31-5 (1st place Big Ten, conference tourney champs, B1G POY, 1 AA, 2 First Team All B1G)

2011: 24-10 (3rd place Big Ten, conference tourney champs, Sweet 16, B1G POY, 1 AA, 1 First Team All B1G, 1st round draft pick)

2012: 25-6 (2nd place Big Ten, B1G POY, 1 First Team All B1G, 1st round draft pick)

2013: 18-13 (7-9)

Clearly the program has been in a decline recently. :roll2:

I get that the program would likely have a better future with a fresh, young HC for the girls program, but to say its been in a decline is a laugh.
The Big Ten as a conference has not been good recently and is worse now than it was 5-10 years ago. Most of the accomplishments given are relative to the conference's strength. Whatever word you want to use for the state of the program, it doesn't matter, it's obvious a change is needed for the program and that's the point.

While I feel sorry for Foster (best of luck to him), I think this is the right move before we lose too many other blue-chip basketball players from the state of Ohio. He has served us well in the Big Ten but not so well when it came to the NCAA.

Ohio State fired women's basketball coach Jim Foster today less than 24 hours after the Buckeyes did not make the NCAA Tournament field, a source inside the program said.

The Buckeyes finished the season 18-13 and 7-9 in the conference.

In 11 seasons at Ohio State, Foster's teams won six Big Ten championships and four Big Ten Tournament titles but never advanced beyond the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Foster was under contract through the 2017-18 season.

I think you are 100% correct; greenies for you. There is some major talent in Ohio and as of right now not much is trending for Ohio State in the recruiting of it. There definitely a feeling at certain high school Ohio State/Foster wasn't doing the right things for recruiting. Though we shouldn't confuse him to what John Cooper did to the northern part of the state.

I reiterate I do absolutely love the fact all his girls do graduate.

Most sites are saying that Foster "will not return" next season but what I copied from the Dispatch states that he was "fired". I guess we will have to wait and see. There are some very good candidates out there with Ohio State ties so the national search should be interesting.

No need for a national search just ask Amy Tucker if she wants to come back to Ohio. If not, then move on but ask her first.
I'm sure Amy Tucker is a fine coach but the reason Stanford did so well in the early 90's was because of Tara and Julie Plank (who is also an Ohio State Alumnus). Gene would be foolish not to talk to Julie first. She was an assistant on the U.S. Olympic team in 2000 and a WNBA head coach. Plus, she grew up in Columbus and has a passion for the university like no one else available.

The Buckeyes lost to Purdue in three overtimes on Jan. 14 without starting guards Tayler Hill (tonsillitis) and Amber Stokes (knee). Hill finished the season with her tonsils inflamed and said that she plans to schedule surgery to have them removed.

Junior center Ashley Adams and freshman guard Cait Craft also ended the season with injury issues. Foster said that he would rather those things were addressed than play in the WNIT.
