Jim Tressel ESPN radio interview (merged)

Pretty vanilla. Cowherd kissed JT's ass quite a bit and steered Tressel into the same Q&A stuff that's been rehashed a million times in print since January. The only things I took from the interview that I hadn't heard before were:

1. Cowherd said he watched the Fiesta Bowl with a buddy at home, and when JT came out for the pregame interview and told Jack Arute he wasn't looking very sharp, then offered him a stay for his collar, Cowherd mentioned turning to his buddy saying, 'Jim Tressel knows he's going to win this football game.' JT chuckled and said something to the effect of 'All I knew was that from watching the TV monitor in the locker room, Arute wasn't looking very well dressed, so I ran to my shaving kit and grabbed an extra pair of collar stays, and figured I'd offer them to him on the way out of the tunnel.' Tressel continued saying he certainly wasn't sure he was going to win, giving one of his 'Aww shoot, Charlie Weis is a really good coach'-type responses.

2. JT admitted to talking to Mack Brown on the phone last night. JT said he called to offer Mack some encouragement dealing with Brown and Gatewood. Cowherd commented he'd love to be a fly on the wall for one of those converstations, and JT pointed that the college coaching fraternity is very tight, and most media types just don't understand that most of the coaches not only don't hate each other, but many are actually pretty good friends.

If there were two college head coaches that would hang out together in their off time, it would be Tressel and Brown...

Tressel radio interview

heard Jim on ESPN talk radio "the herd" today at 10:45ish central today. good interview, mostly on the upcoming game. i just think he exudes class. he mentioned that he had talked with mack brown and cowherd kept prodding him to tell him if mack had asked about tressel's strategy about the game. tressel denied it and could only say positive things about texas and its program. oh course, most people thing that any coach would say the same thing, the "default template" to an interview, but i believe tressel honestly thinks that and respects texas as an opponent.

just thought i would pass that along. someone might have already mentioned tressel's interview.

on a side note, anybody else remember this:

golic singing the OSU fight song? ok, so i am bored.
