Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I made a post about this in the National Championship thread, but I (and I'm sure many others) feel that it deserves its own place here on Buckeye Planet. Jim will be inducted during the National Championship game on Monday. For further details, please see the link below:

We should all be grateful for such a stand-up guy, friend, mentor, and leader. Congrats, Coach!

Tressel believes Michigan lags Ohio State

Don’t go counting on a 10-year war between new Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and Ohio State’s Urban Meyer. The Wolverines, Jim Tressel believes, have much work to do to get to Ohio State’s level.

There aren’t many days that Jim Tressel misses coaching football. There are the occasional moments when he finds himself yelling at the TV for a coach to call a timeout, but the former Ohio State football coach has moved on.

Instead, he’s Jim Tressel, university president. As a head coach, Tressel was responsible for 100 players and 12 coaches. As president of Youngstown State University, he is in charge of 12,500 students and about 2,000 employees.

Naturally, during his 45-minute talk Monday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, Tressel turned his attention to football and Ohio State. He was in Arlington, Texas, as a new member of the College Football Hall of Fame and watched Ohio State beat Oregon to win the national title. He nearly predicted the final score to a gathering of OSU beat reporters before the game.

He made another prediction Monday that Michigan fans won’t be too happy to read.

Contd....

The Vest will have the best record against the whores up north than anyone ever in my imo. So he fucked up, really bad, one year...its vacated and he's gone forever, but he will still have the best record ever. Its a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down situation. JoePa let children get assfucked for wins. Tressel let tattoos get tattooed and yes, let ineligible players play. Stupid, he didn't need to. But he did. This is the real world and he was never gonna pay any kind of real price, major college football coaches don't end up broke standing in line at the soup kitchen. He didn't rape a coed, or stab someone at the Super Bowl, or fuck an Ohio State volleyball player, or whatever.

He did rape M*ch*g*n, which as we all know is not illegal...

What Rich Rod and Barwis did for Brock Meeler is one of the shining moments from his tenure. Nice letter from Tress to his brother Elliot who was playing for UM at the time

http://btn.com/2015/09/02/photo-former-ohio-state-coach-sends-michigan-player-a-touching-letter/

Former Michigan offensive lineman Elliott Mealer, who played for the Wolverines from 2008-2012, recently opened up about a special letter his family received after his brother, Brock, was able to walk again after being paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident in 2007.

The letter came from former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, who knew Mealer after recruiting him out of high school. It was addressed to Elliott and Brock’s aunt, Sandra Mealer Barber. The letter congratulated the family of their accomplishments after Brock had the opportunity to walk onto Michigan’s field and touch the “M Club” banner before the season opener on Sept. 4, 2010.

See the letter from Tressel in the tweet above.

Elliott Mealer shared the story with Steve Kornacki of MGoBlue.com.

“It was hand-written and it really touched me,” said Elliott. “Jim Tressel and his brother, Doc, recruited me.”

Many know Ohio State and Michigan as being one of the most intense rivalries in all of sports, not just college football. But this is the type of story that you have to appreciate, no matter where your college allegiance lies.
