John Calipari (official thread of impending probation)

Espin is running a quote from him saying he made the schedule too hard. Ga tech is one of the teams that kicked their asses and we're incredibly mediocre, at best. He's just struggling to get this bunch of 1 or 2 year mercenaries to play as a team.
We're, what? 11, 12 years into his tenure and I seems their fans are finally starting to catch on that going year-to-year with a bunch of mercs probably isn't a great strategy if your goal is to win titles. The guy has done it once since he's been there with the most talented rosters you can buy.

You can say Duke does it similarly with the one and dones, but their roster is usually peppered with a couple second and third year guys that get decent minutes. Plus, as much as I hate him, Coach K can actually coach a little. I still say Cal is an elite recruiter and a wildly mediocre coach.

We're = ga tech, the school I actually went to.

I think K puts more emphasis on guys that are coming to improve their game and will play team ball. Guys looking for a place to camp for a year before the NBA draft probably get passed on by Duke.

In a piece where Yahoo Sports’ Ben Rohrbach and Vincent Goodwill highlighted 10 potential NBA head coaching candidates, Calipari was one of them. Citing two NBA executives, the duo reported some interesting stuff.

"Calipari is a bit of a surprise here, but multiple sources tell Yahoo Sports Calipari would be open to jumping back into the NBA," the article reads. "He had a taste in the late 90s, taking over the then-New Jersey Nets following a stint at UMass that didn’t go particularly well. But the changing dynamics at Kentucky, along with the massive expectations from the fan base and alumni, could have him looking for a second bite."

“He may have maxed out at Kentucky,” a high-ranking executive told Yahoo Sports.

“College basketball is a sinking ship,” another executive told Yahoo Sports. “He is much different than his first go-round but that ego is hard to tame.”

Kentucky lost at home to South Carolina, 71-68. The natives are restless in Lexington.

The Cocks are 8-8, with losses to Furman, East Carolina, and George Washington.

PTI can’t believe fans are booing John Calipari, says he should go to Texas and beat Kentucky

Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser led off PTI with a discussion about Kentucky and fans booing the team and John Calipari.

Wilbon and Kornheiser both agreed that they can’t believe fans are booing Calipari after all he has done in Lexington. Kornheiser finished by saying Cal should go to Texas then beat Kentucky when they Longhorns join the SEC.

John Wall Was Going To Commit To UNC Until Tyler Hansbrough Was An Asshole Towards Him On His Recruiting Visit

So John Wall was at his recruiting visit at UNC and he saw that Hansbrough was there in a roped off area with his friends. Like I said he was National Player of the Year and if you know college basketball you know how good Tyler Hansbrough was. So John Wall decides to go up to him, say hello and introduce himself. He does just that as any human would do but Tyler Hansbrough looks at him, doesn't shake his hand and says "I don't talk to recruits". Those 5 words made John Wall never want to play there and go on to have an unreal season at Kentucky, becoming the number 1 overall pick.

Tyler Hansbrough Responds To John Wall, Says He's Lying And Went To Kentucky Because Of The Bank Of Calipari

The best part about all of this is that everyone knows Cal cheated for his recruits and were paying them under the table all the time. Worst kept secret maybe of all time. Hilarious ricochet shot he got here. I think I am going to choose to believe John Wall because UNC is a bunch of scumbags and probably tell their players to act like that.

Just sayin': Funny stories, however, probably both are true.

1. Hansbrough was an asshole.
2. Wall went to UK because of the Bank Of Calipari....

Out in the round of 32. Finishes 22-12. Each year, he has a roster stacked with future pros and he hasn’t made it to the Sweet-16 in 4 years and hasn’t been to a Final Four in 8. 1 Natty in 14 years and that was 11 years ago. That is underachieving on a colossal scale given the talent he recruits.
They've got 3 of the top 4 coming in for next year, and 4 of the top 13. Soooooooooo......first round exit?
