John "Hondo" Havlicek (National Champion, NBA Champion, CBB/NBA HOF, R.I.P.)

Yeah, that's why people were upset with Pryor. Race. :roll1:

Yes because I said most or all people. There were folks that were outraged that anyone sold anything independent of NCAA involvement. Hell, people here have been upset that recent former players sold rings and gold pants. I'm still waiting on the outrage to be directed at Hondo.

Reading comprehension. Try harder.

Dude, listen- Hondo has the right to do whatever he wants to with his memorabilia...that he EARNED through his athletic accomplishments.

This is conceptually the same thing that the players did that cost us last year

When you stack up all the awards, rings, trophies.. there's only so much room and they start to take on a priority ranking...

No doubt Pryor assumed he'd be accumulating NFL awards, rings, etc.. and the gazillion ones he had would not match up to the ones he planned on getting

I look at the stuff I still have... and I'm pretty sure even my most prestigious awards and trophies don't meant scrap to my kids.. so it makes sense to sell things that have a value and would be of value in someone else's eyes and their home rather than letting it just be clutter/unseen/in a box upstairs

It's sad.. but I understand

Congratulations to Mr. Havlicek on being elected to the college basketball hall of fame!

College basketball: John Havlicek, Ed Ratleff named to hall
Ohio State great John Havlicek and former East High School star Ed Ratleff are among the newest class to be enshrined in the College Basketball Hall of Fame.

The ceremony will take place on Nov. 20 in Kansas City, Mo.
...
Havlicek was an All-American at Ohio State and won a national championship with the Buckeyes in 1960. He helped Ohio State to a 78-6 record in his three years as a starter before a superlative 16-year career with the Boston Celtics, who he helped to eight NBA titles.

Havlicek was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984. Ohio State retired his No. 5 jersey in 2005.

All five starters on that team played D1 college hoop, and three played either NBA or ABA. Absolute sledgehammer of a high school team; maybe the best ever aside from modern-day destination schools like Oak Hill.
Don't get crazy.

Walnut Ridge had a team in 71 that I believe had all 5 starters go DI. Adolph Rupp said it was one of the best HS teams he ever saw
