Ohio State, Michigan both offer Walnut Hills' Jowon Briggs

The Hurry Up: Ohio State Offers Cincinnati Defensive Tackle, Cleveland Heights Duo Plans Unofficial Visit and Florida Cornerback Feels Wanted by Coaching Staff

“It means a lot,” Briggs told Eleven Warriors. “To me, it's proof that I'm doing something right [and] it's motivation to keep working.”

The 6-foot-2, 275-pounder is yet ranked by any major recruiting websites, but currently holds offers from Cincinnati, Iowa State, Miami (Ohio) and Wisconsin.

“I've been told that I have good hands and am strong,” he said.

Bigger version of BB Landers?

Boy, does it look like '18 and '19 DL recruiting for OH is a pretty special back to back run.

Lock up most if not all the top end talent in state and cherry pick from there and that would work just fine. To that point, I believe the staff has a great angle here and same can be said to JC on the O Line: We want the elite in state guys and you are our focus - period. And to the out of state studs - we only have room for the best of the best.

Briggs attended the Ohio State junior day on Jan. 28.

“I didn’t really know too much about them – I got to know more,” Briggs said. “I wanted to make sure they know who I am and stuff.”

Briggs, who is just getting to know Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson, mentioned a couple things he likes about OSU.

“They have very good academic opportunities,” Briggs said. “From what I hear it’s like a family there. I still have to see the campus and talk to the players.”

Briggs is certainly in no hurry to make his college choice.

“Probably not till my senior year,” he said. “Right now, I’m just happy for each offer that comes in.”
