Kevin Sumlin (OC Maryland Terrapins)

This fool should have cashed in and grabbed a better job while his name was hot.

Maybe so, this writer thinks Sumlin is all of a sudden now on "the hot seat".....

A&M prez ‘dismayed, disappointed, angry’ over sexist presentation

Just a piece of advice to Sumlin, who I still believe is one of the most talented head coaches in the sport: thanks to this incident — and one of the men involved in it that you hired — as well as an embarrassing social media meltdown of one of your assistants earlier this year, not to mention an 11-13 record in SEC play the past three years, you had better win and win big this year. And I mean big.

After an 11-2 first season in College Station that coincided with the program’s first in the SEC, who would’ve thought Sumlin would be on the hot seat a mere four years later?

Turner was one of two Texas A&M assistant coaches suspended two weeks without pay by head coach Kevin Sumlin Friday for a train wreck of a presentation at a women’s football clinic. Photos leaked to various media outlets showed a slide show with various “pass-blocking rules” that included such helpful tips as “spread your legs,” “enter-front/not-behind, “get erect,” “stay erect” and “bang him hard.”...

Turner, if you don't recall, was canned from his previous job at Miami over their harassment scandal, where he, among other things, gave a "gag" (no pun intended) gift to the targeted player of a male blow-up doll.

“We want to sincerely apologize to the passionate Aggie fans and to women everywhere for our failed attempt at humor during this week’s Aggie Football Chalk Talk and fundraiser,” a statement from Turner and the other suspended assistant

In a similar vein, John Wayne Gacy has issued a statement apologizing for his "failed attempt at mentoring young men" and Adolph Hitler has apologized for his "failed attempt at population control."

My experience with "the south" (saying it that way makes it sound like a bad thing - like "the plague" or something) is pretty limited. But I've heard things - some believable, some not. And even the believable things probably aren't a complete representation of life anywhere in the south. And I'm certainly not defending whoever wrote the message. But I'd be surprised if Coach Sumlin hasn't gotten letters like this before. Of course, it'd be nice if the world were full of hippies and we'd all hold hands and dance around in circles with rainbows flying over head. But this is the world we live in.

I'm not saying that this is no big deal. And maybe putting this out on social media will help open people's eyes to this issue. I'd like to think that my kids wouldn't know anything about racism. But I don't see this going away within my or their lifetimes.

It's not limited to just "the South" ....unfortunately.
