Amir Riep will announce his college plans this weekend.

One of the most sought after class of 2017 prospects, and recruits left on the Ohio State big board will be off the market in a matter of days. Hours after attending the Friday Night Light camp at Ohio State, four-star defensive back Amir Riep (Cincinnati, OH / Colerain) will announce his college commitment on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in front of family, teammates, friends and others in the gym of Cincinnati Colerain, according to Adam Baum of Cincinnati.com.

Riep, who racked up nearly 50 full ride scholarship offers during the process from universities around the country is considered the 13th cornerback and 114th overall recruit in the senior class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Even though powerhouse football programs such as Alabama, Michigan State and Notre Dame were among the schools to give the 5-foot-11, 185-pound standout a chance to suit up for their program, many around the recruiting scene currently believe the Riep will end up playing on the next level for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.

Already blessed with the top recruiting class in the country, Riep’s pledge would add even more pressure on the chokehold Meyer has on the likes of Georgia, and Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.

With 14 commitments at the moment, Riep would be the fifth defensive back to jump at the chance to play for the Buckeyes, joining Shaun Wade, Marcus Williamson, Isaiah Pryor and Brendon White in the class of 2017.

Will the rumors come true or will Amir Riep shock the world and decided to take his talents outside of Ohio? We won’t have to wait much longer to find out. Stay with the Land-Grant Hold Land for the latest.

Buckeyes offer 2018 lineman

Still looking for their first 2018 commitment, Ohio State dished out an offer to one of the classes top recruits.

On Tuesday afternoon, offensive tackle William Barnes (Apopka, FL / Apopka) went to his Twitter page to announce that the Buckeyes are the latest to give him a chance to continue his football career at the next level.

A class of 2018 prospect by way of the Sunshine State, Ohio State isn’t the first power five conference program to give Barnes a scholarship. The Buckeyes find themselves up against southern schools such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Auburn for the 6’4, and 290-pounder.

Quick Hits

  • Class of 2017 five-star running back Cam Akers (Clinton, MS / Clinton) will not make it to Friday Night Lights on the campus of Ohio State this week, per Alex Gleitman of Bucknuts.
  • While Akers won’t be on hand for the camp, a 2019 standout will. Defensive tackle Jacob Lacey (Bowling Green, Ky. / South Warren) will be among the talent at Friday Night Lights. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound sophomore has yet to pick up an offer from the Buckeyes, but currently has scholarships on the table from Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame and others.
