due to weather, kids have only been able to play 2 games so far.

my son is leading his team in rushing yards (hasn't found the endzone yet though).

he had about 50 yards in yesterday's game with a long of around 15.
on his team's only scoring drive, he helped get them in range to score.
had a couple of strong runs to get them down inside the 5, allowing the QB to score on a sweep.

here he is taking the handoff on the run that setup their score.

Gotta be tough having your son play for the Gators.
in more ways than you think.

the team he plays for was the hated rivals of the team I played for as a kid.

the Gators is the High School these kids will attend when they reach that age.
their uniforms are a replica of that High School's unis (only difference is the school wears green helmets)

cool thing is the school has a great relationship with the kids' teams.
the School donated the helmet decals.
and on the 25th of this month, these kids will be at the high school game in their jerseys and will be announced to the crowd individually by name/number/position before kickoff.

kid had his best game yet earlier today.

moved from LB to DE in the 2nd half.
had a couple tackles for loss, and even recovered a fumble.

on offense, led the team in rushing again.
65 yards, with a long of 20 for his 1st score of the season.

had a 12 yd run on the scoring drive that had me proud as hell.
ran off tackle, broke 1 tackle and headed to the outside.
looked like he was gonna make it to the edge, but other kid cut him off, so he stiff armed him to get an extra couple yards (about 15 yds on the play)

that was right after he had an yard run up the gut where his final 2 yards were fighting both safeties and refusing to go down.

played his final game of the season yesterday.

they were completely over-matched in this one.
the 15-0 final score doesn't begin to justify the dominance that actually took place.

my son took a beating trying to run the ball.
twisted his ankle slightly in the 1st half, and never was able to get going.
there just wasn't any running room.

the other team's line was quite noticeably bigger and stronger than ours was.
and with no holes opening up, my kid (and anyone else who tried running it) was basically running head 1st into a brick wall.

teams longest run of the game was when my son was able to break it to the outside for about a 5 yarder.
and then he was stacked up and pummeled to the bottom of the pile.

I was actually prouder of him yesterday than in some of his other games where he had success.
this was the 1st game where he was totally dominated and roughed up.
even with a slight limp, he never gave up, and begged to stay in the game (coach made him sit out a few plays to rest his ankle).
he kept his head up and kept fighting for what few inches they gave him.

after the game, you could see he was tired and hurting and just completely beat down.
but he put on his happy face for team pictures, and a few pics of just him and a couple of his closest friends on the team.

loved playing this year and is already talking about next season.

Sounds like he had fun, which is what the game is about.

oh he enjoyed the hell out of it.
he has a new favorite sport.

prior to this I didn't think anything would pass up baseball for him, but football is now king in his world.

I had a hunch he would like it because he's freaking insane and as competitive as anyone else his age.

whatever he has in the tank, you're getting it on every snap.

Get that from his pops? Did you play as a kid?

I played as a kid and up until a concussion (my 3rd) ended my senior season in high school.

much like him I was a kamikaze dare devil type.

when I was his age I wasn't as thick or strong as he is though.

I was a scrawny lil shit, but I had good speed and cared little about my personal well being.

I never played much offense (played corner and returned kicks) like he has.
he's probably already surpassed my lifetime offensive numbers.

Well, the fact that your kid is a tough competitor doesn't tap out just put him on the "Do Not Recruit" board at scUM.

Sounds like he had fun, which is what the game is about.

The injury also meant that Saban retracted his offer

In all seriousness, glad your son is enjoying football, Nutriaitch. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the same thing for my son, I've still got several years to go. He's already on the lineman path like I was, 95% in height at birth and he was 11 lbs 6 oz lol. He's 1 1/2 years old right now though, so I'm gonna have to be patient.
