Kobe announces retirement: 'This season is all I have left to give'

After playing 15 games this season, Kobe Bryant has come to the realization that this is his last season in the NBA. On Sunday, he formally announced his retirement with a poem on The Players' Tribune:

Dear Basketball

From the moment
I started rolling my dad's tube socks
And shooting imaginary
Game-winning shots
In the Great Western Forum
I knew one thing was real:

I fell in love with you.

A love so deep I gave you my all —
From my mind & body
To my spirit & soul.

As a six-year-old boy
Deeply in love with you
I never saw the end of the tunnel.

Running out of one.

And so I ran.

Hoops fans care. 44% for the night ain't too shabby. One of the greatest puts on this kinda show and I assume by your statement that you or anyone else close to you doesn't care because why?

Are you stupid, ignorant, completely out of touch with reality or do you have a better excuse for idiocy?

I'll bet, if you were honest you answered YES to at least three of the ABOVE.

Calm down man. I meant I don't think anyone cares it took him 50 shots to do it. Not that I don't think anyone cares that he went for 60 and hit the game winner. It was a magical storybook ending that to a great career that will go down as a legend people tell their kids.

The NBA gave everyone on Utah an under the table bonus not to play defense- because wouldn't that be a cool story!

Or maybe they just did it for free because fuck it, who cares, no one expects you to be competitive in the NBA and few people will focus on the real story here- how embarrassing and pathetic it is to let a 37 year old who can't walk score points.

The competive fire in the NBA is a joke. Just a bunch of millionaire friends looking for the easiest way to win a championship.

Jordan could still score 60 if you let him take 50 uncontested jump shots.

but MJ, even at age 53, would still shoot better than 44% given the lack of actual defense played against kobe last night.
