How about the part where I said I wasn't OVERLY impressed.....OVERLY being emphasized to note that while I was impressed since 81 is such a big number, I wasn't "OH MY FUCKING GOD I WANT KOBE TO HAVE MY BABY" impressed like you seem to be.

Again, reading comprehension is your friend.

Hey, I don't want Kobe to have my baby. I want to have his baby.

I did notice that post. However, every single one of your other posts were spent disparaging the accomplishment. I'm not here to engage in personal attacks. I believe the performance deserves to be discussed as one of the best ever and I'm guessing that you don't. I see no reason for you to be so upset that people are singing the praises of Kobe Bryant to point where you say we're sucking his dick or want to have his baby. Clearly, there are more important things for you to get that upset about.

I personally hate the Jordan comparison because Jordan had a much better team surrounding him than Kobe has now.

I agree Kobe is one hell of a player, but I think Jordan could have done it with the current Lakers surrounding him.

It deserves to be talked about as one of the greatest performances of all time. Just because ESPN exaggerates a lot, does not mean they exaggerate all the time.
Somehow none of his teammates were interviewed in the sportscenter special (where the entier show was about kobe, and we got to watch the entire kobe performance again, despite being covered the entire day before). 81 points in the regular season (on a team that will not go far in the playoffs if they make it at all) does not trump 63 in the playoffs... and it certainly does not compare to 6 tds on 14 touches by Gale.

81 is a ridiculous number of points, but the context of the game is why I am not ready to repeat the number over and over and over like yourself. I don't remember defending Wilt at any point for being any less of a selfish ballhog than Kobe.
I see no reason for you to be so upset that people are singing the praises of Kobe Bryant to point where you say we're sucking his dick or want to have his baby.
this post sounds an awful lot like a manic fan to me... you may not be, but you're not backing up your claim very well.
81 points a lot of points. I can't seem to get around the number 81. 81818181818181. Stop it!!!

Here is a report from Jordan's highest game. You will see that it was in OT and he also 9 less shots.

He also posted a career high in rebounds in the same game and he added 6 assists 4 more than Kobe, and it looks like he played some D as well as he had 4 steals.

Also as it says it was a game where that they needed to clinch the playoffs. So the game meant something, and the Cavs were a good team.

Am I supposed to have argued that Kobe's performance was somehow better than possibly the greatest performance by the greatest player ever to play the game?

I don't think I did.

I don't remember defending Wilt at any point for being any less of a selfish ballhog than Kobe.

And certainly that wasn't what I was trying to insinuate. I'm simply arguing that Wilt's 100 point game goes unquestioned generally. And it should. It's an amazing performance, despite being only a regular season game and 63 shots being taken. It's better than Kobe's performance and not better than Jordan's contextually. But my point was that just because it's a regular season game and just because 46 shots were taken, does not do anything in my mind to DIMINISH the accomplishment. Certainly, if he had shot 100 percent from the field and had it been a playoff game, that would have ENHANCED the accomplishment.

this post sounds an awful lot like a manic fan to me... you may not be, but you're not backing up your claim very well.

Ridiculous. How do you possibly make that leap? I think Kobe's a prick. But I am a strong defender of the NBA, as you may notice from other threads. And I think the perception of the public about the NBA is misplaced and clouds their opinions. Just because I'm willing to argue on behalf of a less-than popular athlete in a less-than popular league, somehow I have subjected myself to personal attacks? And of course, if I defend myself from those personal attacks it makes those attacks accurate?

Well Jordan was an all around player, he had offense, Defense and he knew how to get his team involved while still scoring the ball.

Kobe is a great indvidual player, but not a team player. He won championships b/c of Shaq, not b/c of himself. Replace Shaq with say Bill Cartwright or someone that Jordan had and they are not winning the championship.

Put Kobe on teh Bulls and they may win one, but not 6 rings.

Kobe not in the same league as Jordan as an overall player.

Those are the reasons you don't like the comparison right.

Yeah, I could defend our entire '05 LB crew better than Kobe could defend an average NBA guard...

So because you assume I'm upset means I am? Can you assume I'm a millionaire next?

go up to one of your co-workers and say this outloud and see if they give you weird looks, especially for the number part (you will have said 81 eight times in 3 sentences): 81 points a lot of points. I can't seem to get around the number 81. 81818181818181. Stop it!!!

personally, I don't care for the way 27 made his point (oral sex) at all. But the point he was making, that people are fainting with excitement over his achievement is not that misguided in some examples.

What do you think?

Just wondering. Some people conveniently forget how good of an on-ball defender Kobe is. It's usually the same people that think Lebron is the best player in the league.

So because you assume I'm upset means I am? Can you assume I'm a millionaire next?

It's an educated assumption based on strongly worded attacks. I apologize if I was incorrect. It will not happen again.

Clearly, that wasn't the way to go about making my point. And you're right - I would get strange looks and no one would want to even shake my hand. But I'll just leave it at what my opinion is - that 81 points is an astounding number in an NBA game. The fact that it has only happened once before - regular season or playoff - speaks for itself in my mind. I understand the disagreement, and it is based on some good points (shot number and game importance).

For me to say anymore is just beating a dead horse at this point.
