Kobi Simmons (G Memphis Grizzlies)

Obviously I can't be too optimistic about the chances of OSU getting Kobi anymore, it just doesn't seem like it is in the cards given the trends in OSU's hoops recruiting. When the 5-stars wait until the spring, they want to see who's turning pro in the spring, chances are they are looking at the blue blood programs to find an opening at one of them - clearly if OSU was where Kobi wanted to go, it's not a mystery who he would have to beat out for PT. Seems a lot like the Tony Parker recruitment where the kid seemed to favor OSU but never pulled the trigger, and then he finds somewhere else he likes eventually. I believe his dad is a coach, it wouldn't surprise me to see some school offer him a job to get Kobi.

In line with Kobi, just like Fox. Kentucky adding guards. Not sure he even has a commit-able offer to Kentucky. Personally my fear isn't Kentucky or UNLV, its the unknown team. It doesnt seem that Kobi has been content with his options yet. The Arizona angle never really seemed to take off, but perhaps it will further materialize. I feel like if a team like Kansas or UNC came strong at him, it could be the real threat.

The Kentucky Wildcats entered the early signing period with a borderline top-10 class and zero top-10 recruits. They will end it with the three top-10 recruits and the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.

Elite guard Malik Monk, ranked No. 5 in the ESPN 100, has committed to Kentucky, he announced in a statement on Twitter.

With Grandstaff now gone, an extra scholarship opened up, a recruiting class without a guard in it, and coming off a win against #4 Kentucky, Ohio State ought to look mighty inviting to Kobi...

Thoughts on how Austin Grandstaff's transfer could impact Buckeyes future: Ohio State basketball recruiting

I posted the above in the Basketball Recruiting Projections thread. We have a good shot but watch out for Arizona if they get really involved and the family keeps on talking about UNLV but I have been told not to worry about them. We also might be better off banking this scholarship for one of the wing players in the 2017 class who are very nice.

We might be better of banking the ship but those things tend to be hindsight and MAtta isn't going to do that. He wants (and frankly needs) a guard in the '16 class. I doubt beating UK did a whole lot to change his mind, but the way the UK guards have looked so far, you have to guess he's thinking about the log jam that could be there if Ulis and Briscoe return.

Simmons' top three now includes the Buckeyes, Kentucky and Arizona. Simmons had a previous top three of Ohio State, UK and UNLV, but in light of the Rebels firing head coach Dave Rice on Sunday, Simmons opted to remove them from his list.

Arizona scares the hell out of me. An announcement to be made during a high school basketball game on ESPN around 6 PM on Saturday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Kobi Simmons, one of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2016 recruiting class, will announce his college decision on Saturday.

Simmons will choose from a group of finalists that includes Ohio State, Kentucky and Arizona. ESPN's Reggie Rankin was the first to report that Simmons will make his decision this weekend.

The announcement will be aired live Saturday during a high school basketball telecast on ESPN, which begins at 6 p.m.
