If he wanted to be at Ohio State, he would have committed before the early signing period ended. He had already made his official visit and gathered all the information he needed. That still wasn't enough for him to pledge in this class.

I'm confused by your post in two respects:
1. Are you suggesting the 11W article's statement that Simmons hasn't officially visited Arizona is incorrect?
2. Neither Potter nor Funderburke are guards. So OSU has no commitment for any guards yet this year either. Do you disagree?

Sort of makes sense with Kentucky not having room at the inn and Lyle playing the position that Simmons wants to play at Ohio State and no one has any idea if Lyle is going to be gone after this year.
I know that you have followed recruiting for a long time so I was wondering how often a kid would commit to a school that he is not "officially visited". I am sure that he has talked Miller at Arizona and knows what Arizona might look like but I was wondering what your thinking is regarding that type of situation.

Certainly rare although as someone else pointed out Marcus Baugh committed to OSU before every stepping foot on campus...so it does happen.
If this were football recruiting the tea leaves would certainly be reading OSU right now...but basketball recruiting is very different and doesn't always follow the same sorts of principles. Look at Tony Parker to UCLA as a classic example.

I thought I had read somewhere that Kobi took an unofficial to Arizona at some point.
Anyways, I dunno if the gurus have actual inside intel that it will be Arizona, but I certainly understand their reasoning even if they don't. Kobi could have picked us in the fall. He didn't. He adds Arizona to his final 3 and shortly thereafter announces he is committing on Saturday.
Kobi has played a lot of PR games in his recruitment so I wouldn't be shocked if it is OSU but it does feel like Arizona makes the most sense given the timing and circumstances. I would be shocked if it is UK because not all of their guards are going to the NBA and they bring in Fox and Monk, who are T10 recruits at the 1 and the 2.

But agreeing with nomatta, most of these so called "experts" are just trying to read between the lines like the rest of us, and being followers. It makes sense, as I've said all along I thought Kobi wanted to be part of one of the "known" basketball programs.
