Konrad Reuland

Is Mission Viejo (CA) tight end, Konrad Reuland, the next in a line of former basketball players turned star receivers? Reuland is already considered a top 5 national player at tight end for the 2006 recruiting class and he has only been playing football for two years.

Konrad said, “The guy I have idolized is Tony Gonzalez (Chiefs) because he is a playmaking tight end who just makes play after play. That’s where I want to be.”

He knows he is somewhat new to football and said that he plans to, “spend my time working hardest on blocking, hitting the weights real hard and putting on ten more pounds.” Reuland currently is listed at 6-6 and 235 pounds.

With his size and playmaking ability, Konrad has drawn the interest from a who’s who of college programs. But when asked what is important to him in a college, he said, “Academics are very, very important. The schools I am looking at, they will change, I really don’t know enough about them yet.” He did add, “I haven’t seen Ohio State and I am excited to visit there.”

Konrad credits his advanced maturity to his eighth grade year spent as a foreign exchange student in Germany. He said, “I went to Germany because I had family there, my grandparents emigrated from there. I lived there for a whole school year and I spoke no German when I arrived. It made me mature because it was very difficult to attend a school and not speak the language.”

He concluded by saying, “Obviously a schools location is not a factor.”
