Krenzel ... Good, Bad or Ugly? (Long)

Ouch.

A few too many White Zin's last night. I want to thoroughly apologize to "buckeyebeliever" for the senseless rant. I'm making no excuses, I was totally wrong on this one. I guess that I'm just so used to Bucknuts and people taking jabs for misspelled words, punctuation, and crap like that that I had a major meltdown when someone asked about Mr. Kern's name.

Again, to "believer" I am very sorry. I apologize to YOU and YOUR wife. Please be a frequent visitor to this site. This type of thing will never happen again. Peace.

Also, to C-Dog or anyone else who has the power to do so, please remove that post from the thread. I'm embarrassed to have it here.

It's a tough time of year, and some of the stuff on other boards has definitely managed to get under my skin, so I'm sure that's true for others.

We'll snap now and again even on this board, but I think for the most part we have a group of people here that don't mean anything as harshly as it might sometimes come off in the spur of the moment. Believer -- I think WW thought you were taking a shot at him with the Rex thing. Something people expect on BNuts. Even if you were, clearly he regrets responding the way he did, and I've deleted his post per his request.

Hope neither of you takes any of it personally, that it's all (or can be) wrapped up amicably, and that everyone sticks around.

No worries Woody. I have a new respect for you. In my book, it takes a big person to admit they are wrong and apologize, especially a public apology. All forgiven and fogotten.

Im going to have to say no. There may have not been a better leader than Krenzel, but I would love to have seen what Germaine would do playing for Tressel. I would put him in the all time top 5.

Has anyone mentioned Hoying?

May two favorites were Hoying and Germaine. I also would
have loved to have seen him for four years without the
rotating QB situation he found himself in. Never did
understand that.

WoodyWorshipper & BuckeyeBeliever, Kudos. This is the kind of give and take and SELF CORRECTION that seldom (if ever) happens on Bucknuts anymore. I only caught a quick glimps of the thread last night and didn't have time to chime in before heading out. I was planning to do so today, but now have no need. The written word is a difficult thing to interpret at times and WW's subsequent post confirmed my thoughts. He assumed (with the aid of some fruit of the vine) that the reply was more of the constant sniping and back biting that is a staple of Bucknuts anymore.

BuckeyeBeliever, I hope you and your wife DO continue to frequent BuckeyePlanet. You didn't deserve the reply you got, and WW has made his apology. In time this type of thing will happen less frequently. I don't know if you know WW from Bucknuts or not, but those of us who do, know he is deeply passionate about the Buckeyes and their history. He, like many others on this board, are the no nonsense variety of fan. Many are here because they are tired of the "should the Buckeyes change their uniforms to black?" type of threads and the constant squwabbling (hum, that spelling sure doesn't look right). I think it is pretty cool. Kind of an advanced form of Buckeye Fandom, and a wealth of knowledge from most every member. Anyway, I guess my point is that many of these guys/members have a pretty intimate knowledge of one another from years of interaction on Bucknuts and other sites. They know (without emoticons or explaination) when they are kidding around with each other and when they are being serious. Before long they'll know you (and vice versa) well enough that this type of misunderstanding will not happen. Best of all, these guys will stand up and admit when they are wrong ... as you have seen. Well except for Mili ... he's never wrong!

BTW, WW I believe that YOU can delete your own posts here on BuckeyePlanet (unlike Bucknuts), unless that changed with the software update. BUT ... be careful, if you delete the first post in a thread (assuming you made the first post) it will delete the entire thread. Just a "heads up".

Oh, and as far as the thread topic. My vote goes to Krenzel. It's a tough call between him and Kern. Actually, I guess you can make a case for different guys depending on your definition of best. Does than mean skill as a passer, leader, winner, rusher, heart, etc. In the end, I believe that CK has been the most benefitial QB in OSU's history (while at OSU). I don't just mean on Saturdays. I'm talking about all the good will and positive attention he has brought to Ohio State. The numerous academic awards in addition to the Academic Heisman. The covers of sports magazines such as Sports Illustrated. The articulate and humble way he conducts himself in the media and as a teammate. The numerous single plays that define many great games, 4th and 14, Holy Buckeye, etc. All this in addition to the contributions on Saturdays has put OSU in a positive light like no other QB before ... at a time when OSU NEEDED positive news. That makes him the best in my book. Plus CK will continue to be a positive spokesperson for OSU either on Sundays, in a laboratory, or a doctor's office. And let's not forget that for one season, he and his teammates brought us PERFECTION.

Digital Camera Question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found a good deal on a Sony with a free 16mb Memory Stick included. I only want to know how many pictures will that hold and whether I need a bigger stick?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's what I thought BuckNutty. When you took the time to find that old post I began to wonder. Well it's Friday and I guess the noggin needs a break. FWIW, you can still be my sworn enemy if you like. Also, the bigger stick comment was in regards to drumsticks (well not really). I suggest a nice promark 7A. Sturdy enough for rocking out, but light enough for quick and subtle stick work. I'm kinda partial to the wood beads/tips (traditionalist), but nylon wears much better and is probably a better choice for heavy ride cycmbal work.

I actually use Vic Firth 7A, wood tip. I really don't use my ride much, partially because I don't like the way it sounds. It's a Zildjian K 20" Dark Ride. I Spent $208 on it so it's not going anywhere. You're exactly right about Nylon although I'm still partial to wood. Do you know anywhere online I can get a 14" Remo 2 play coated snare?? Beating a hole in the one I have now.

FWIW, you can still be my sworn enemy if you like.

Ouch :sob:

Sam Ash Drum Heads

BuckNutty, I generally don't buy anything (instrumental) on line, usually just stop by Columbus Percussion Center (a bit pricey) or Sam Ash. Although Sam Ash has a pretty good web site. Sounds like you want the Remo Emperor Series of head for a 2 ply. The link above will take you to their 2nd page of drum heads where the 14" Emperor is listed ... 10 bucks and change ... plus shipping I'd guess.

"The DIPLOMAT™, AMBASSADOR™, and EMPEROR™ names are so widely understood they’re also commonly used to describe drumhead weights. Remo’s brightest sounding DIPLOMAT™ uses a single layer of 7.5 mil (.0075") Mylar® film. An AMBASSADOR™ head uses a slightly thicker 10 mil (.010") single ply film while the most durable EMPEROR™ uses two 7 mil films together."

Columbus Percussion Center Drum Heads

CPC has the same heads listed for 12.90 ... like I said, a bit pricey. CPC is a percussion specialty store, they know their stuff but you pay a premium (their web site is a bit clunky too). Sam Ash is a general music store but they have a good selection of stuff and are a national chain. I would guess they have many more items in stock for order and delivery.
