LaDainian Tomlinson (NFL HOF)

Well, the Browns, Chiefs, and Chargers have been very competitive under Marty, unless you consider reaching the Super Bowl as a measuring stick. Marty might very well be the best regular season coach in history...so maybe the Browns, Cards and Lions are exactly who need him, but the Chargers certainly don't.

Well, historically, teams have not improved once Marty has left, below are the winning percentages.

Browns 4 years with Schottenheimer: 40-23 (.634)
Browns 4 years after Schottenheimer: 25-38-1 (.390)

Chiefs 9 years with Schottenheimer: 101-58 (.635)
Chiefs 7 years after Schottenheimer: 60-52 (.535)

Redskins 1 year with Schottenheimer: 8-8 (.500)
Redskins 1 year after Schottenheimer: 7-9 (.437)

Chargers 5 years with Schottenheimer: 47-33 (.587)

Now that all looks great, the problem is that 5-13 record in the play offs, although the Chargers I believe were 7-12 in the playoffs prior to this year, not exactly "stunning" results from either end. AJ Smith and Marty have gotten a great team built in SD, now they just need a coach that can take them to the next level, although, I will be surprised if he's not given one more year in SD. The main reason I say that is that the franchise has never had 14 wins in a season, and this year had so many high notes for the Chargers.

So maybe the Chargers don't need him, but prior to his arrival they hadn't broke the .500 mark since 1995. In the Period since Bobby Ross left and Marty came in they were 23-57.

My point? This franchise has never been a "winner" and unless San Diego gets a big name reliable coach then dropping Marty would be a bad idea. I don't want to see the team go through bad college coaches again, Riley may be a decent college football coach but he sucked in the NFL.

That's my opinion anyways.

It was one guy that did the dance... Ellis Hobbs... The rest of the team was celebrating an unlikely victory...LT lost his cool and acted like a baby after the game...
What the Pats did was no worse than what Merriman does after every sack or no worse than the Chargers talking about hitting Brady in the mouth or stomping on the "overrated" Patriots to the media the week before the game...

Sinking to new level: Pats? class takes hit
Boston Herald

I realize this thread is probably beating a dead horse :horse: but this article was interesting in that it's written by a sport writer in Boston. I was curious to see what the "home crowds" thoughts were.

For one, the guy (one guy) who did the dance hasn't been there before... He's a second year CB... And I can't believe that just because NE has been there before doesn't mean they can't celebrate a big win...

Damn shame, the reality of the business side of professional sports. Chargers probably won't re-sign Sproles either, as the economics don't make sense. Cromartie to the Cowboys for Tashard Choice? Or Bills for Marshawn Lynch? Both possibilities, as is drafting.

They'll have to pay off the Cowboys something awful to get Choice, seeing as how Barber seems to be wearing down and Jones gets hurt a lot. I'm guessing they get a guy they don't have to pay much for and then draft somebody. Lynch makes sense but I don't know if Buffalo wants to part with him. One of the guys in NO maybe? Bell?
