Larry 'LJ' Scott (Retired)

Sounds like OSU spoke to him today but the offer did not come...yet. Sounds like they want to see him on campus (and it seems like a lot of the in-state offers tend to happen in Meyer's office).

Perhaps we can thank Mr. Hyde for Meyer's new focus on power backs like Scott over the speedsters he had less success with at Florida. And it's not like the team is lacking speedsters at other positions, either.

Not really. Meyer has always had a bigger RB to tote the rock at Utah and at UF (his name was tim tebow). Meyer just creatively uses his RBs to fit his scheme a round the rest of the team. And he had much success with his small speedsters at UF, he uses them in space and not solely on handoffs and splits them out as well. So RBs need to be versatile in a meyer offense.

When I look at Larry's film, he reminds me of a young Maurice Clarett. A bigger RB, that will punish defenders and can take punishment and can also bean assets in the passing game. Also neither are(/were) burners but can pull away

We could debate this all day and I get what you mean but I see two distinctively different running styles. Clarett had the quickest feet I've ever seen in high school and despite being just under 6-foot ran as low to the ground as someone much smaller. He was compact and as such made himself a smaller target. And Maurice's biggest asset was his ability to fall forward and pick up an extra 2-3 yards. Even when you had him bottled up he found a seam and got a couple. He finished big runs by falling forward for an extra five. Scott reminds me more of a young Eddie George...an upright runner at nearly 6-foot-2 with a long stride and enough wiggle to make guys miss and once they get someone off balance they can deliver a serious punch. High motor guys. Neither George nor Scott were/are burners but they have enough speed to get the job done and both were/are adequate in the passing game but neither are going to be confused with Matt Forte or Jamaal Charles. Scott looks like he can add weight to his frame...and if that happens I see more of an Eddie Lacy-type of back.
