LaTwan Anderson (official thread)

It is VERY early, especially for players like this. What I mean by that is there are about 10-15 players just like him in the midwest alone. I think the staff takes their time, like so many people have previously mentioned, because of the lack of space and abundance of talent within the area.
Not to mention the 2 guys we have offered from STA that will be up for the spring game. Staff probably wants to get a feel for their chances with those guys and their size before they evaluate other plans.

I am willing to bet that Tress and Ginn Sr. talk frequently. I'm willing to bet that his transfer is not a coincidence. I bet the kid knows where he stands right now. I bet he has been told by Ginn to go on the bus tour and get the offer after OSU's camp.

If you don't think the Glenville/OSU connection is wired up already for the 2010 class you are smokin crack. There will be offers going out to Glenville kids after they camp at OSU. Tressel knows coach Ginn tells his kids to take their visits. Thats the way Tress wants it anyways. IMO the kid will go to camp...they know him anyways...show what hes got and earn an offer.

I'd bet you're a gambling addict.

OregonBcukeye,
I don't know how legit that forty times, but I know these times are legit:
Regionals- 8th Latwan Anderson 10 St. Edward 11.10
Districts- 1st Latwan Anderson 10 St. Edward 11.04

I know those are 100 meter times, but they are from district and regionals where they used FAT (electronic timing), so they are 100 percent accurate.
I watched the film, I wasn't taken aback by his speed, although he is pretty fast. Certainly not the fastest guy around though.

With all that said, I still want this kid badly, but he doesn't have an offer yet. To me, that says the coaches want to see more than just his film and reported 40 time. I just have a hard time believing a 4.24 guy can't break 11 seconds in the 100. I have found other results as well, but nothing under 11 seconds.

Edit: I know that he has reported 10.4 speed, but I couldn't find that anywhere, and I know that it wasn't at districts, regionals, or state.

Good thing football is played in pads then. I haven't watched a ton of highlight films of prospects across the midwest, but I doubt I'd find 10-15 that show the kind of speed displayed in his highlights.

I don't totally disagree with you. He's not a Lamarcus Joyner, Tai-ler Jones type but he does have something that separates him from the rest of the pack in the midwest.

Yeah, I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression here. I hope he gets an offer because to me, he looks pretty darn good. He hits like a ton of bricks and plays the ball well.
I just think those measurabilities are suspect. No way he runs as fast as advertised or is 5 foot 11.
I think it's good news for us that he likes the Big Ten. If we offer him, I think we land him, but I know that he is really high on Sparty right now.

Spot on.

The kid can hit, has a mean streak, and whether he plays CB or S at the collegiate level, the 100 time won't matter much. He has a good burst and closing ability, that is what he will need to play DB. He has the physicality to boot.

Glad he is high on MSU, I want Anderson. We need him way more than you do.

www.baumspage.com for all the track times. Good place to keep up with the truth about reported times.

I don't put that much stock in 40 times. The 100, 200, and 400 times give a much better idea of a player's ability to sustain top speed. Forty times are all over the place. Hand timing is notoriously innacurate. The totally electronic times at the regional and state meets are gold. They even list the wind factor.

Unless I see an electronic time from a track meet or combine I don't have much faith in the numbers. Trust but verify if the kid shows he can out run the competition with a ball in his hands or run down a ball carrier. There is way too much BS in the times being reported, and unfortunately few people verify the self reported numbers. The fasted time I could find for Anderson was 10.91 at the Jesse Owens Classic. I don't know if it was hand or electronically timed. The fastest time in the 100 meter dash in state finals was 10.77 in 2008. LA is one of the faster kids in the state.

Yeah, I went to baumspage. I searched most big races. I know for a fact that all races at the district level and up are FAT timed and that those are accurate.
As far as state last year, I was there and the heat was terrible as well as the wind. Latwan did run in the 4 by 100 meter. In which case, it would be very possible to run a 10.4 split with the running start. Still, not a valid 100 meter time.
I'm not trying to get into this any further. The tape speaks for itself.
