So the guy with a "Nevermind" tattoo on his body is suing because he didn't want to be on the album cover.

Sounds like his story is no longer getting him free drinks at the local bar.

Yeah, it does seem like he milked it for what it was worth for awhile. OTOH, I think Nirvana and the record companies can afford to throw him a bone (pun fully intended) and cut some checks. If anything, he's just asking for the pay he should have gotten in the first place.

I cannot, for the life of me, believe for a second that that image was used without agreements and payments agreed to at the time. Let's all just agree on that.

With that said, the record company and the band are not where his beef should be. He should be taking his parents, or legal guardians who signed the paperwork, to court.

This is a non-issue if Nevermind sold like Bleach.

2021 me talking: That album cover is weird. That should never have been a thing.
1991 me talking: That album cover is weird. But whatever.

There's a big difference in those 30 years, culturally. I think if they wanted a picture of a naked baby in a pool, like it sounds like they did, they could have gotten it pretty easily. If someone wants $500 for a picture of their baby, find someone cheaper. $250 may be fair.
On the other hand, try doing that in 2021. Walk around a public pool and say, "Can I take a picture of your baby, naked? I'll pay you $250."

State College or non-State College pool?

Funny, I was always a little creeped out by the Nevermind album cover. Looks like the baby was too.

His major issue is proving exploitation/emotional distress when he did re-shoots and promotion of the material numerous times, some recently (2016 is the latest I saw).

At the end of the day, I would expect the right thing to do here is for those who decided on the material to apologize to him and settle out of court and everyone can go on their way.

...
However, his enthusiasm appears to have waned in recent years. In a 2016 interview with GQ Australia, Elden said his stance on the photograph changed after he reached out to Nirvana to see if the band would participate in an art show he was putting on. “I was asking if they wanted to put a piece of art in the fucking thing,” he said. “I was getting referred to their managers and their lawyers. Why am I still on their cover if I’m not that big of a deal?
I see why he's suing. I don't see how he's winning.

Michigan car owner sued after Jeep kills mechanic during oil change

A Michigan man who left his car at a dealership for an oil change and tire rotation is being sued after his vehicle was involved in the death of one of the dealership's employees.

Sergio Enrique Diaz-Navarro took his red 2019 Wrangler to a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership on March 13, 2020, and 19-year-old lube technician Daniel Thompson worked on the car. After the service was complete, the vehicle "lurched forward" as the young employee attempted to operate it, crushing 42-year-old mechanic Jeffrey Hawkins against a cabinet, court records show.

Entire article: https://www.foxnews.com/us/michigan-man-sued-after-car-kills-mechanic-during-oil-change

Guy drops his Jeep off at the dealership for an oil change. One employee changes the oil and test starts the Jeep. He doesn't know how to operate a manual transmission and doesn't have a driver's license. Jeep lunges forward killing another employee. Family of dead employee's lawyer can't sue the other employee or dealership because of legal standard preventing an employee from suing boss for negligence; so he's suing the car owner.
