LB David "Boom" Perkins (transfer to Illinois State)

I keep thinking of the sign UFM had hanging in his recruiting war room at FLA that read "recruit the fastest team in America." This kid fits the bill with Diggs/Jones speed. But where do you play him? Anyone know how hard we are recruiting him?

Rivals $ - Perkins ready to meet with Vrabel

12/14

By Givler...talks daily to OSU...Vrabel coming to his school tomorrow and likes the recruiting momentum OSU has...will take visits and decide at the end of January.

First come, first serve between him and Williams? That's what I am thinking...I saw a lot of similarities in their film.

Yea, I agree with the similarities with Cam Williams and David Perkins. They have that Shazier look about them but ultimately they both seem very comparable to Nebraska's (#4) Lavonte David.

I do think this could be a first come, first serve between these two. But I could also see room for both of them depending on the outcome of these other studs looking at OSU.

I'm fully convinced that we are heading for a full 25-man class now with the attrition that has developed.

South Bend (Ind.) Washington four-star athlete David Perkins has an official visit set up to Columbus for the weekend of Jan. 13 and considers Ohio State among his top contenders along with LSU, Michigan State, Missouri and Tennessee. The sanctions the NCAA handed down on Tuesday have not knocked the Buckeyes out of the race for his signature.

"From the severity of the situation that people made it out to be, I was expecting a lot more," Perkins said. "The biggest thing is probably going to be the bowl game. As players you look forward to play in them, but with that being only one year I don't really see it being that big of a hit to the program."
Meyer's proficiency on the recruiting trail early in his tenure, while not unexpected, had created a buzz around the Ohio State program that had been missing in the last year since the allegations first came to light. Tuesday's announcement, while lamented in Columbus because it surpassed self-imposed sanctions, is unlikely to curb Meyer's recruiting momentum.

"I think he can still keep it going," Perkins said. "Just looking at who he brought in, a couple of them were big names and I'm pretty sure he can bring in a couple more big names before signing day."

ESPN$ - Four-star Perkins will alter visit schedule

By Jared Shanker
Four-star athlete David Perkins (South Bend, Ind./Washington) is rethinking his planned official visits once again.

The one-time Notre Dame commit had three scheduled visits to Ohio State (Jan. 13), LSU (Jan. 20) and Tennessee (Jan. 27) next month, but he says only the Ohio State trip is set in stone. The LSU visit will be canceled as Perkins is no longer considering the Tigers.

Perkins was also scheduled to visit Michigan State on Dec. 16 but canceled that visit. He didn?t make a visit that weekend after officially visiting Missouri on Dec. 9. The Spartans are not out of it, though.

I feel like you can't have enough fast LBs.. It would be great to have another Shazier type LB to make sure Denard Robinson type players have no impact on the Defense.. Either way a kid like this instantly improves your special teams..

I am very glad to hear that David Perkins crossed LSU off the list and I am am excited that he might be a buckeye. At minimum, he will make an immediate contribution on special teams, and there are going to be a lot of kickoffs next year!

It is difficult to decipher what tOSU is thinking about middle linebacker? Apparently Shazier is the man for next year, but what if he goes down? I guess his backup would be Maxwell?

Does anyone see Perkins playing MLB?
