LB David "Boom" Perkins (transfer to Illinois State)

I am very glad to hear that David Perkins crossed LSU off the list and I am am excited that he might be a buckeye. At minimum, he will make an immediate contribution on special teams, and there are going to be a lot of kickoffs next year!

It is difficult to decipher what tOSU is thinking about middle linebacker? Apparently Shazier is the man for next year, but what if he goes down? I guess his backup would be Maxwell?

Does anyone see Perkins playing MLB?

Shazier is not a middle linebacker. Sabino, Sorm Klein, and Curtis Grant will fill that spot.

Yea, I agree with the similarities with Cam Williams and David Perkins. They have that Shazier look about them but ultimately they both seem very comparable to Nebraska's (#4) Lavonte David.

I do think this could be a first come, first serve between these two. But I could also see room for both of them depending on the outcome of these other studs looking at OSU.

Agreed. He reminds me a lot of Lavonte David too. Aggressive, explosive, athletic, and quick. If he can tackle as consistently as Lavonte, oooo boy. He looks like he would compliment Roberts and Perry really well at LB

Thanks, that explains why tOSU is looking for outside linebackers, to cover for Sabino or Storm moving to the middle.

Sabino was to have started 2011 at MLB:

and Nathan Williams was to have been the Sam on running downs.

Okay, cool. I am ready. Bring on David Perkins. Bring on Nathan Williams. On Butkus, on Nitshke, on Donder, and Blitzen.

ESPN - Perkins announcing after MSU trip

1/9

Four-star athlete David Perkins (South Bend, Ind./Washington) has set an announcement date, but if it's anything like his leaderboard then it might not be worth marking on calendars just yet.

Perkins told ESPN.com in a text message on Monday he plans to announce on either Jan. 29 or Jan. 30, which is just a few days before signing day on Feb. 1.

Perkins said last week he does not have a top group, but he took an official visit to Missouri and is scheduled to visit Ohio State (Jan. 13), Illinois (Jan. 24) and Michigan State (Jan. 27). He canceled trips to LSU and Tennessee recently and did not make the official visit to Michigan State he set up for December.

If we can only have two LB's in this class, personally I would like to see it be Perkins and Williams (over Marcus and Santos).

I disagree I believe we should show more interest in Santos and Marcus they are just insane at LB especially Santos dude is a boss at MLB with Perkins he might want to play RB in college and for Marcus just look at his tape it's bananas...

Fickell visited last night and will visit OSU this weekend. Will also visit Illinois and could swap Cal for MSU for this last visit.

Rivals $ - Perkins settles on a final five

1/11

By Helmholdt...has visited Missouri and will visit Ohio State, Oregon, Illinois and Cal over the course of the next three weeks...talks about wanting to see whether he will start at OSU or be limited to special teams.

Kid doesn't lack confidence...he might be in for a rude awakening...

You will start if you are good enough to start...same as every program??? Not sure I understand his frame of mind. Coach should ask him if he is willing to work hard enough and study hard enough to earn it!!!!

Whenever I see recruits wondering this sort of thing I can't help but feel they're really just worried about being lost in the depth chart. They probably just need reassurrances about recruiting plans and where they'll fit in.
