The Top247 prospect had a game-high six solos and six assisted tackles, many coming with him flying down into the box and laying a big smack or diving tackle on the ball-carrier. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Bogard is an instinctual player that will easily play at over 200 pounds on the next level. He is currently ranked as the nation's fourth-best safety and 101st-best prospect overall.

OSU gains hard-hitter in Glenville prospect

The Glenville pipeline has been kind to Ohio State over the years.

Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., Donte Whitner and Jermale Hines have all starred for the Buckeyes after playing for the Cleveland school. Safety Christian Bryant and right guard Marcus Hall are starters for this year?s Buckeyes.

Given the close ties between Tarblooders coach Ted Ginn Sr. and Jim Tressel, one might wonder whether the procession of players to Columbus might slow with Tressel?s departure from Ohio State.

But the latest Glenville star to commit to play for the Buckeyes has not wavered from his decision. De?van (pronounced Devin) Bogard said Ohio State?s troubles of the last nine months have not made him reconsider.

?Oh no,? Bogard said. ?I have faith in them.?

The 6-foot, 180-pound Bogard plays linebacker and wide receiver for Glenville, but is projected to play safety for Ohio State.

Local Ohio State recruits shrug off Meyer coaching frenzy

"Ohio State is going to be Ohio State," said Glenville's De'Van Bogard, "no matter who the coach is."

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- De'Van Bogard had a game to play.

So even with all the talk that the Urban Meyer coaching deal was all but done at Ohio State, the defensive back from Glenville did not have much time to dwell on the issue of the supposed new head man at his college choice.

Bogard was getting ready to play in Wednesday night's Northeast Ohio Thanksgiving All-Star Classic at Nordonia High.

"I heard about it and it's a good choice," said Bogard, who has given an oral commitment to sign with OSU in February. "Urban's a good coach. But I really haven't been paying attention.

"Ohio State is going to be Ohio State, no matter who the coach is."

Bogard said he had never met Meyer, the two-time national championship coach at Florida.

"All I can do is play the game," he said.
