LB Jerome Baker (Seattle Seahawks)

Hope he does well.

Certainly one of the Buckeyes under Urban that stayed a “whole college career” who didn’t come close to reaching their potential on the collegiate level. But it happens. Once a Buckeye always a Buckeye.

I’m hoping he locks in now that he’s in the league. Kid has all the physical tools.

Miami Dolphins LB Jerome Baker shows off lightning quickness

Miami Dolphins rookie linebacker Jerome Baker is really fast. And in Thursday’s preseason game against the Bucs, he looked really, really fast.

“That was one aspect of my game that everybody really didn’t question,” Baker said, after recording a team-leading five tackles.

Baker said his goal is to show more than speed. But... he is fast. And that’s not a bad thing.

“My man went out there and made a couple plays,” said Dolphins linebacker Raekwon McMillan, who was Baker’s teammate at Ohio State. “He was out there balling out.”

Baker said one objective for his professional debut was to bring effort every play. Check. He flew around the field.

“Definitely faster than practice,” Baker said with a smile. Baker often smiles.

“It’s still football at the end of the day, so it’s all good,” he said.

After a series in which is appeared Baker had fired through the line to make a good play, Dolphins defensive coordinator Matt Burke could be seen engaging the rookie in a fairly lengthy conversation on the sideline.

“Just clean up on the little things,” Baker said. “On one play I had a good strike but I could have come at a little better angle. It’s just the little things. The concepts I’m starting to really learn but just little things to clean up.”

Baker said he’s listening closely to his coaches and to veteran linebacker Kiko Alonso.

“(Alonso’s) been in my ear since I got here,” Baker said. “I really appreciate Kiko’s selflessness. He’s all about the team.”
