LB Justin Hilliard (2020 B1G Champ Def POG)

I hope that's true and the sting of the last staff practically ignoring the region for years doesn't linger. Fickell recruiting him also helps. But yeah, Coombs is worshipped in some corners of cincy
Urban as well, from the time he spent there. I think there was a reason they played the spring game in the Natti. Hopefully it pays off with Hilliard.

Idk if many people here even realize urban went to UC, lol
being that he's the HC of hated OSU and also was the HC of a UF team that beat the tar out of the only decent UC team in decades after Kelly left, he doesn't have all that much love here either. The spring game did a little something but for some unknown reason OSU is still hated down here. But the elite kids think for themselves most of the time and don't seem to have that same feeling. OSU is still OSU to them and a very good program. On top of that tuberville has done a great job of alienating local coaches since he mainly recruits in the south and had 2-3 kids commit to UC this past cycle from the city. This all should work in OSU's favor, as well as having a U.S. coaching legend in Cincinnati in Coombs

Urb's first coaching job was DB coach at St. Xavier high school. He's a Roman Catholic of German descent. In other words, they think he's one of them.

Except for the fact that he coaches for UCs (only to cincinnatians) rival.
Im just giving you a point of view from people I know and have from around Cincinnati who despise OSU. I'd love Hilliard as much as anyone and I'm sure he thinks independently of those I mentioned. But there are are a lot of butthurt coaches and fans in the Cincinnati area. I hope Hilliard comes up for the game against UC next year to see a massacre. There will be a lot of puffed out chests from UC fans trying to reminisce about their last game

Why do we need a perspective from admitted tOSU haters because they're from the same metro area as a prized recruit? Who cares what anyone in Cincy thinks? Everybody talks about JT "ignoring" SW Ohio. I'd like to see some facts to back that up.Tress didn't pull many recruits from West Virginia. Doesn't mean he ignored a border state so much as there wasn't as much talent in the state as West Virginians believed.

If JT were still coaching tOSU, he'd recruit the heck out of this kid, as will Urban.

I'm glad you're not a coach and that RU current staff doesn't share your same logic about who cares about Cincinnati... Smh

And you wanted proof of the difference of recruiting Cincinati between the two coaching staffs, heres three separate articles. Cincinnati is second only to Cleveland in top talent produced by the state, and urbans staff is correctly recruiting here if he wants to aid in winning NCs. The top ranked teams in the nations recruit every inch of their state(Alabama, auburn, FsU, LSU, etc), and urban knows this.

This staffs relentless recruiting is a difference from the more laid back approach of JT and I'm hoping tha works in our benefit for Hilliard as they know we have an OOS up hill battle in getting him in S&G. We know we can use all the LB help we can get. It'd be awesome if a guy like Raekwon or even Dante booker played early and were able to host Justin on his visit, could only help.

What Butthurt are you talking about? I know a bunch of high school coaches down here and almost all of them have and OSU helmet in their office or wear an OSU hat around town. This so-called myth that coaches steer their kids away from Columbus is getting out of hand. Every major high school in the 513 has sent a player to Columbus in the last 5-10 years . Colerain, Moeller, LaSalle, St. X, Lakota West, Middletown, Anderson, etc.

All I'm saying is that its more difficult to get kids to osu ftom Cincinnati compared to more northern areas in Ohio. And its pretty obvious.
And back to Justin, I've hijacked this this thread enough

With the impending transfer of MM, landing Justin just got that much more important. As if it wasn't already a high priority. Considering our run of LBs lately, I'm of the mindset that we sign at least 3 LBs in every class until we have a 1st team All American on the roster but that's just me.

Agreed. And maybe 4 some classes. I could see nick Conner, jerome baker, shmar kilby lane and Hilliard all in this class. Have to make sure we can get depth. Hopefully cam Williams steps up now in the mean time or young guys will be after that spot. Luckily running in 2 LB sets a lot lessens the Mitchell loss a little

I admit I am usually late to the recruiting hype for most kids. This is especially true for Ohio kids because most of you locals know about the studs super early. So, as usual I am just watching Justin's vids for the first time......and.......wow. This guy is a total stud. He's up there pretty high on my early wish list behind TG. It's kind of like Berger, Booker and Hubbard......to have such a gifted in state talent at a position that is softer than I can recall in recent memory makes him a MUST get to me. Not to bash Cam Williams but I just don't see much there to get excited about. Curtis still hasn't made anywhere near the impact we hoped for and he is a senior with serious health issues. That leaves Perry who I still have quite a bit of faith in but is far from a proven commodity in my book. Beyond that it is only hope. Think about that. One guy who is still coming into his own and beyond that it is totally new faces. That's Twilight Zone for me considering the proud history of tOSU at the position. And now we lose MM too? Egads. Landing Justin is huge. Can't let this kind of talent leave the state on any year but now more than ever. I hope we see not only Coombs but Fick, Urban, Ash, LJsr, Pantoni, the janitor and the pizza delivery guy all doing their part on this one.

Ohio has a very nice LB class for 2015 as well. Hilliard is the most polished and instinctual. But Nick Conner plays quite similar to him and is very good in his own right. And then there's the über athletic, Jerome Baker. He reminds me of a young Ryan Shazier in that he plays like a heat seeking missile and can cover ground very fast but needs to add some weight. But Hilliard is the crown jewel of the LB class like Mcmillian was for the 2014 class of LBs and defense as a whole.
