LB Ryan Shazier (All B1G, All-American, 2017 Pro Bowl)

But if you seriously think Shazier is as good a linebacker as Teo, I think I don't want you doing my player evaluations. Shazier is really, really good. Teo is a once-in-a-decade player at the position, IMO. Stats do not tell the entire story.

Te'o is a MLB whereas Ryan is an OLB. Different positions and responsibilities in different schemes. Te'o had a great year but he should not be involved in the heisman discussion. But this year has been a down year all-around as far as top teams and players. Ryan had an amazing year, stats wise, once Boren joined the D. And he has two years to improve on his career, which can only cement him in the upper echelon of OSU LB's.

Lil Animal disagrees with you.

My thoughts on you. Te'o is a solid LB, but he's significantly overhyped.

This is overstating it a bit. I'd be surprised if teo is a ray Lewis or Patrick Willis type, which would be on the level of "once in a decade."

Also, while teo is having a phenomenal year, and yes, better than shazier this year, don't forget teo is a senior and shazier a sophomore.

I don't see how Te'o had a better year than Shazier...he simply came into the season pre-hyped and had a solid season. I'll give the guy major credit for playing through the adversity he faced early in the season...

Yea you could make an argument either way. I mean shazier has many more TFL and sacks, but 7 ints is hard to ignore, and I don't kno how to find the statistic, but I've heard/would assume that shazier was on the field much moreso than teo.

Edit: but all the "he's the heart and soul of the defense" is complete bullshit IMO.

Te'o needed to score at least once on those INT's. Shazier only had one but he took it to the house and turned the tide in the PSU game.

That doesnt make him better than Te'o but the guy snatched a couple of balls and fell down. Two were thrown to him by shoelaces and Ryan never got that opportunity. LOL

Anyway, the game with 3 total tackles against Wake is pretty awful for Te'o. I don't know if he got injured or what but a Heisman guy, can't have a non-impact game. Manziel had a couple TO's in the losses but he still put up points and had a "Heisman Moment". Where was Te'os Heisman moment?

No way is he a once in a decade type player. He can get his awards and he's had a great year, but this stuff about him being this incredible, once in so many years defensive player is over the top. He's a great LB on a really good team. That's it.

EDIT: Also, I wanted to add that it's complete BS how Shazier is getting passed over by coaches and media for awards/teams. He can't even get a consensus All B10 selection and then gets completely snubbed from the CBS AA team. I know he's young and didn't get as much press this year, but he's being completely overlooked for the incredible end of the season that he had on an undefeated team. The guy's gotta be a 3rd team AA at least.

The snub can be a good thing too. Will make him angry and hungry come next year. He'll play mad, with a chip on his shoulder... with something to prove. Bet he puts in extra time in the weight room too... At 235 this guy would crush people!

You can't possibly be serious.
