Shazier is a wanted man
By Kevin Ledford

Plantation (FL) High School?s Ryan Shazier has been attracting attention for a while, but after his recent breakout performance at the Miami Under Armour combine, now his stock is soaring.

?It went well. I ran a 4.43, jumped a 10-4, my vert was 38, in 1-on-1?s nobody caught a pass (on me), in 7-on-7?s I did real good, all my other drills I did real good too.?

Think that?s impressive?

?And the thing about it, I wasn?t 100%. I think I could?ve done better on my broad and my vert.?

It?s performances like those that speak to Ryan?s vast potential and has coaches everywhere salivating. He currently holds offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, South Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Louisville, Ole Miss and Texas Tech and says each school is recruiting him as a dual-role player.

Received 4 more offers yesterday bringing his total to 16: Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers, & Baylor... He doesn't know much about Minnesota or Rutgers yet... Regarding Nebraska, he likes the fan support & their history of good defenses... Regarding Baylor, his Dad is an alum & their family lived near the campus when he was younger...

Ryan Shazier (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Plantation): Shazier has made his name as a pass-rushing terror off the edge for Plantation, notching 19 sacks last season. His transformation into an outside linebacker is under way, and this spring is a first chance to test his ability to play in space, change direction, and use his quickness and pure speed to chase and cover, instead of exploding off the edge and closing on a quarterback.

The early returns were positive on back-to-back days at a 7-on-7 practice and at the Under Armour combine. Shazier has quickly shown the ability to both adapt and understand the position. He is receiving offers from around the country from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Louisville, Nebraska and South Florida. LSU is expected to join them in the near future.

Scout $ - 2011 Prospect: Plantation OLB
Mike Bakas of SuperPrep.com, Mar 7, 2010

Shazier doesn't list a top 5 but his childhood favorite was Florida... His top factors will be the chance to get a good education & a winning program... Will need to adjust to playing in space as a LB but he's already lethal as a pass rusher...
