Leadership (Split from Howard)

Sorry, but "ability to prevent in-game fight" isn't a high priority on the OSU coaches' wish list. OSU doesn't have the type of guys that are susceptible to being on the edge of a brawl. Going on and on about preventing a fight is hardly reason for offering a player a scholarship.

He used the fight prevention scenario to illustrate his point regarding Pe'Shon's leadership qualities. Your post simplifies his entire point.

I don't call preventing a fight "leadership", so we'll have to agree to disagree on how we look at it. Anyone can step between two groups of guys and try to prevent a fight, and it doesn't take a leader to do it. The fact that cooler heads prevailed (as is usually the case) isn't a sign of leadership, IMO. Obviously, it's hard to prove a point about leadership because much of it is behind the scenes, so the original poster was doing his best, but the illustration doesn't do much to help prove his point.

After the departure of Anthony Crater, there may be room for Howard after all, but it's not a given that the staff would go after him because there are other fish they'd like to reel in at that position (specifically, Marques Teague).

We can agree to disagree...no problem. However, any Joe Schmoe can jump between two groups of HS kids who are about to fight. However, most of those Joe Schmoes get ignored...the original poster used this story to show what kind of kid Pe'Shon is and how he has the charisma to influence and lead a group. It does take a leader to stand up one's peers...especially when the major characters are teenagers.

As someone who deals with kids and teams on a daily basis, I'll tell you the situation illustrated above more often that not goes the other way...and if you don't think tOSU does not have kids capable of brawling, you are mistaken.
