Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

LeBron is all about equality and justice in America. But he has no problem being in bed with Nike and Chinese labor abuses.

I'll add some.

Played the race card when his entrance gate got graffitied (like he doesn't have multiple cameras pointed at that thing and would know exactly what happened). Played the race card on resident Zen Buddhist Phil Jackson. Best of all, tried to appropriate and profit from "Taco Tuesday", because he is culturally sensitive and Taco Tuesday comes from his culture. Oh wait...

Gotta give some props to LeBron. This year makes 10 NBA finals appearances for him w/ 3 different franchises represented. I don't know that there is another player to ever be a starter on NBA finals teams for 3 different franchises.

IMO, LeBron is the best basketball player ever.
Just for your fyi, Shaq went to the Finals with the Magic, Lakers, and Heat.

I assume the laughing Jordan is a disagreement to any debate about LBJ being the GOAT. First off let me say that I’m not putting that forth. But I also think it’s becoming more debatable than ever, especially if he nabs his 4th title.

Here’s the thing, I haven’t really paid that much attention to LBJ because I’ve been disinterested in the NBA for a while so I didn’t realize he had so many assists and having watched him more the last year or so I’ve come to appreciate just how much he does on the floor. He’s the only guy in the GOAT discussion that’s top 10 in 2 major categories (#3 points and #8 in assists) and that’s pretty incredible to me.

For comparison when talking about Total Points Accounted for look at these numbers:

Jordan 43,588
LBJ 52,933 and counting

Edit- Jordan is #3 in steals if you count that as a major category (LBJ is #13)

It's like comparing passing numbers in football from the 60's and today. It's a different game.

The things you'll never convince me about LBJ; 1) that he had the heart to come up in an era without this superfriends team making bullshit 2) that he could have taken the physical beating that used to be part of the game 3) I can't unsee that game 5 against Boston when he was with the Cavs the first time. He flat out fucking quit. No supposed superstar/GOAT in any sport that I can think of (and certainly not MJ) has ever shown that kind of lack of heart that I can recall.

He's made the most of what they have turned the NBA into. I'll give him that.

All of these are excellent points. I grew up in Southern California in the 80s and was a massive diehard Laker fan in my teens. Always will be a Laker fan because of that. I definitely hate the game today comparatively but try to find joy in whatever I can.

You can’t compare players of different eras in any sport. If forced to and leaving the bigs out I’d go:

Jordan
LBJ
Kobe (the only player you can even compare to Jordan’s type of game)

I’ll never understand the lack of respect Kobe got. If we are drafting a fantasy team to win a game 7 and you take Jordan with the first pic I will take Kobe all day.

Yeah but those guys can do absolutely nothing to help the team by being fans. So it’s entirely different. LBJ is a world wide name. If tOSU can leverage LBJ being a fan to help any part of the athletic program then I’m all for it.
For sure. Just saying, being a fan doesn't absolve you of other sins. I'll gladly accept any recruits that want in because of him.
