don't take offense nutty and 86 just thinking out loud not trying to butt in on your article you guys did a great job.

I been lurking around since the season ended and now that it seems osu is narrowing its list down. I was wondering what ya'll think about our chances at getting some of these recruits.

rough #'s according to bsb offer list we had 52 offered before spitler and 14 had committed else where i.e. gwaltney that left 38 offers to fill around 10 spots.

IMO we have a legit shot at in no particular order

1).Alex Daniels
2). Jason Gwaltney
3.) Elijah Hodge
4). Rico McCoy
5). Sean Smalls
6). Maurice Wells
7). maybe Lawrence Wilson now

the rest seems to mention osu in passing and this doesn't count the under the radar guys we don't know about. If ya'll know of others that you consider a good strong osu lean. I know we have some we havn't offered yet so please put them in also.

That's a pretty good list, I don't see any real pipe dreams on there, although the optimism about Hodge is something that has passed me by for some reason. I would say we now have a better shot at Wilson than any other guy on that list, to be honest. He has decommitted from ND now.

stx I know wilson is looking but some of the guys we are high on seem to be lukewarm on osu, I guess alot of my post was pointing towards guys like Taz and Ringer who would more than likley be bucks if given the chance. I guess its an odds thing with me 38 offers to fill approximately 10 spots with other major programs either ahead or even with us according to some recruiting sites, this worries me. Another thing are we and i mean osu setting a bad example by not taking mr.ohio in football correct me if i'am wrong the last was bam childress I think.

A list of previous winners, and where they are/what they did, can be found at this link. You will see that the last Mr. Ohio Football winner OSU had was MoC. Can you imagine the bad pub we would be getting/would have received if we signed last year's winner?

I'm pretty sure Wells has already informed the coaches of his intention to come to OSU. At least that is where the signs point. Why offer Sutton when you have a legit shot at Gwaltney, or else Ringer qualifying.

The Mr. Football award is strictly a HS hype/stats award-not a talent/potential award. The last Mr. Football to achieve NFL success-before his neck injury- was Big Kat, from 95'. I don't think any of the recent winners will either-sorry MoC-your career will resemble Lawrence Phillips w/out the 1st round $$$$$$$.....
Tressel is scared by Ringer's grades-he doesn't want another Miles Williams situation.............

I thought we got on Gwaltney a little late by that I mean late summer and then turned it up in the fall after he verbaled to wvu. I guess i should have said the best backs in ohio not Mr. Football. I think ringer is starting push the issue with osu and it makes me feel uneasy.

The fact is that if Javon Ringer had taken school a little more seriously, then he would have his offer. What's the point of offering a kid if he may not be available to you when you need him? That's a waste of a scholarship, IMO. With only two scholarship TB's next year, chances are very good that a freshman is going to see some serious time next year.

I hope like heck that Javon is able to get his offer and have a great career at OSU, but if he isn't going to get the job done in the classroom, then the staff can't be faulted for taking their time and making Javon prove himself academically.

it is interesting. osu has stated they want a small and big back this year. the big backs on their list are stewert, gwaltny, and james davis (#7 rb rivals). Davis is visiting 12/10, but says he will likely commit to VT. Stewert will likely not even visit here. Ed Collington from PA would probably commit to osu on the spot, but osu isnt really recruiting him anymore per his latest update.

That leads me to this conclusion. one of two things must be true:

1. osu feels they are in very good shape with gwaltny (i dont think they are)
2. osu told mo wells that so as to not deter him from osu while they are recruiting other rb's hard.

Wells and gwaltny would be great... I just don't feel it with gwaltny...

It is clear Wells is the coaches #1 choice... if Ringer gets his grades in order, I'd love to have him. I've seen him play live a half dozen times, and I've seen him on TV in the state champ. game a couple years ago... the kid is a freak, great speed and vision, and can lay a nice hit on a LB at times as well... I'm not too worried about the injury, however that is a red flag. His grades are and have been his biggest obsticle in getting a bunch of top tier offers (kids of his talent should have offers from all Div. 1 programs in the area).

agree on the grades with ringer but how long do you think he waits. Davis from georgia is a waste of time so is stewart bsb says his grades are ? to. I just think ringer is under rated and will be a stud hope its at osu.

bye the way read over on bsb that smalls hasn't recieved an offer from the bucks true or not?
