Buckeyes win home opener in a rout

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team opened the home schedule on a strong note, powering a season-high 18 hits in a 14-3 win over Lipscomb on a chilly and windy Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The offensive surge was the most runs scored by a Buckeye squad in a home opener in 12 years. Freshman third baseman Zach Dezenzo had a memorable first game at Bill Davis Stadium, going 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI, while freshman right-hander Garrett Burhenn improved to 3-1. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 8-9 overall, while the Bisons drop to 9-7 in 2019.

Unsurprisingly (as I called it), OSU loses to Lipscomb in Game 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 9-3, against Lipscomb Saturday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. Cade Sorrells hit a grand slam in the top of the ninth to seal the win for the Bisons (10-7). Lipscomb reliever Max Habegger picked up the win after striking out six in three innings of relief. Ohio State falls to 8-10 on the year.

OHIO STATE ON THE BOARD
The Buckeyes scored first with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly by Nate Romans. Cherry led off the at-bat with a double to the gap in left center.

Buckeyes take series vs Lipscomb in a nail-biter 7-6

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team claimed a home series win over Lipscomb Sunday afternoon with a 7-6 victory at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes (9-10) held off a ninth-inning rally by the Bisons (10-8) as junior reliever Joe Gahm left the bases loaded with a strikeout to end the game for his first career save. Redshirt freshman left-handed pitcher Seth Lonsway improved to 2-2 after limiting the Bisons to three hits and one run with five strikeouts in six innings of work. Junior first baseman Conner Pohl led the Scarlet and Gray at the dish with a 3-for-4 performance with a homer, hit by pitch, two RBI and two runs scored. Freshman third baseman Zach Dezenzo also homered in a multi-hit game and drove in two runs.

(FIRE) BEALS QUOTE
“This team needed a win and needed a series win,” head coach Greg Beals said. “A win is a win sometimes and that’s what today was and we need to build upon it. We were fortunate to get it, but we did a lot of good things today as well. It just got a little hairy there at the end.”

The Buckeyes improve to 9-10 on the year. They won their first 4 games. Math dictates that they have gone 5-10 since. Pitiful. Especially when considering the stiffs they've played (no offense to Wofford, Texas A&M Corpus Christi or Furman)
