THE BIG TEN AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL IN GENERAL IS ALOT MORE COMPETITIVE THAN IN THE 70'S.
Of course it is, but the only team to threaten stepping into the "elite" tier would be Iowa IMO. Purdue is competitive, Penn St. is down for now, Michigan St. puts up a fight every few years, and every team plays over their head against tOSU lately, but I cannot say that "the big two" has changed all too much.

tOSU and scUM, year in and year out, are at the top of the B10...everyone else shows up for a spurt here and there, but the big 2 always remain in conference

Anyone know when Scholly limits went in to effect? I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts, that Ohio State was as successful before as they have been after....

Well, I guess that'll have to wait for another time... sorry folks, I gotta bail... Check you out tomorrow... or maybe later tonight.

I think Ohio State and Michigan have always raised the bar in the BIG10 conference. The only sad part about what happened in the 90'S is that
the Buckeyes could have had at least 3 or 4 more big 10 Championships in that time frame. But it didn't happen and the other teams got a piece of the pie so to speak. Now that we have the N/C under our belt i guess it's gonna be more demanding?

When you are down and someone keeps kicking dirt in your face, it's about time to get up an put a stop to the shit and that is exactly what happened with the ND / Michigan game this week. Notre Dame may not be well liked by a good percentage of the fans but they always seem to play a very tough schedule year after year. And after all Notre Dame has been a tradition as long as I can remember. I was pretty damn happy when we beat them 2 years in a row in the 90's. Its games like these and many others that will make college football what it was and what it will be.............

OSU Grad my point is Carr is a good coach!!! He won a NC for Michigan and that hadn't been accomplished since 1948. He has cost us a NC or two. I have heard BO make statement that implied that Carr has made horrible decisions. I think Carr's NC puts him ahead of BO IMO.

Another point i'm trying to make is that with limited schollies college football has become much more competitive. The addition of PSU and rise of teams like Purdue, Wisky, Iowa, and Minny has made this conference better than it has ever been. Carr has to coach in a conference that is more competitive ever week than BO did.

Michigan fans are idiots for wanting to get rid of him. I'm sure Nebraska is gflad they got rid of Slich!!!

I gotcha bro...just playing a little Devil's Advocate here...

My only point would be that 3 or 4 loss seasons are acceptable at 95% of the D1 schools in America, however, scUM, tOSU, Nebraska, etc are in that 5% of expecting and demanding near perfection. Just ask Earle Bruce. Good discussion all around

Michigan under Carr:

2003 10 3
2002 10 3
2001 8 4
2000 9 3
1999 10 2
1998 10 3
1997 12 0
1996 8 4
1995 9 4
1994 8 4

Random thoughts:

-Averaged 4 losses a season/won half a NC/avg 3 losses per season since. Can you say fluke?

-His dominance of John Cooper has made this guys career. Give him the "L" he should have taken in 95, 96, 97 and look how shitty his record is. Multiple 5 loss seasons and no NC while OSU is playing in Rose Bowls/winning NC's.

-John Cooper doesn't coach here anymore and Llyod Carr is uckedfayed.

-I hated BO but respected the man. Llyod Carr is a dispicible human being who has done nothing but whine, cry and snivel to gain any and all unfair advantages he could over the past decade. He is a POS and deserves everything he gets. If he were laying on the curb with his guts on fire, I wouldn't cross the street to piss on him.
