I respect the opinion of you fellas who think that I am wrong with my comments. I firmly believe that Meyer will not be the groundbreaking coach that some portray him as if he goes to a major school. I understand that Utah is not exactly a "major" school, but I think that Meyer probably looked at the talent base of the team before he made the jump out there. He still has not proved to me that he can recruit, what, he spent 2 years at BG, and now 2 years at Utah? He hasn't had time to lock down a solid base of talent. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that he cannot do this, but he hasn't proved that to me yet.

If he comes to the Big Ten, he will need to have a team that plays some defense. Lets look at the total points scored by each opponent.

Thu 09/02/2004 Texas A&M W, 41-21

Sat 09/11/2004 Arizona W 23-6

Sat 09/18/2004 Utah State W 48-6

Sat 09/25/2004 Air Force *W 49-35

Fri 10/01/2004 New Mexico W 28-7

Sat 10/16/2004 North Carolina W46-16

Sat 10/23/2004 UNLV *W 63-28

Sat 10/30/2004 San Diego St * 51-28

Sat 11/06/2004 Colorado St * W 63-31

Sat 11/13/2004 Wyoming * W 45-28

Sat 11/20/2004 BYU W, 52-21

Their defense gives up an average of 350 yards per game. Including 199 YPG through the air and 151 YPG on the ground. Statistically they would be the 6th rated team in total defense in the Big Ten, 7th in rushing offense, and 6th in total passing defense. Keep in mind the teams that they have played (minus Texas A&M) are not at the level of talent of most Big Ten schools.

Equally as good. sorry @daddyphatsacs

Hancock Announces That Lloyd Carr Will Step Down From Selection Committee

IRVING, Texas – Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff (CFP), today announced that Lloyd Carr will step down from the selection committee.

“This is a difficult decision because I have enjoyed my preparations and I have the greatest respect for the other committee members and the playoff itself,” said Carr, former head coach at the University of Michigan. “I regret that health issues will prevent me from executing the responsibilities expected of a committee member.”

Carr was to begin his first year on the CFP selection committee this fall.

“Lloyd will be missed,” Hancock said. “He knows and loves college football, but we all understand.”

The committee will now have 12 members this season. The group will issue its first rankings Tuesday, November 1, and will also issue rankings on four more Tuesdays before Selection Day, Sunday, December 4.

Well, that makes sense. A selection committee of an even number, so they can function without the option of a tie-breaking vote.
