Longest Job You Have Held

What is the longest you have ever been at a job? I have been out of school for just about a decade now and am with my third employer. I am nearing five years with the same employer, which is the longest time I have ever been at one place.

Two years at Duke, two years at OSU, and over a year now at MIT. I will probably stay at this job until I finish up my master's degree (another 3 years going part-time). Pretty pathetic!

I am in the 5th year teaching at my school, that is the longest full time, although I worked another job parttime for a bit over 5 years off and on.

2 1/2 years at my current job.. that would be it.. previous to that, less than a year...

Wow, this is a very interesting thread in that it points out the differences between today's employment and that of our parents (many of whom, like my father, have worked at the same place for over 20 years).

My longest so far was 4 years at Cap City.

22 years career Air Force and just completed my 16th year working for the federal government as a civil service employee.

Interesting thread.

I am getting close to 7 years with my current company.
When I was younger I would be lucky to last two years in a job.
My resume took two pages and just to list employers with not much information in between.

Once you get married and/or buy a house you settle down.

Does having a lot of jobs say something about you or the economy?

4 years with Dell and still going. Of course I have only had 2 jobs since college.

I'm coming up on 7 years with my current company. That includes 5 with the current organization, and 2 with a company that my current employer purchased.

23 years @ Goodyear .. 5 years in my private consulting practice

In my 11th year right now.

Once you get married and/or buy a house you settle down.

And once you have kids! If the wife and I didn't have kids, I would be in my 14th year in a position out in Phoenix. But in fall '93 when the old + sign came back on the pregnancy test, the search for a position back in Ohio where we could raise our family began.
