Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

Urban Meyer was as sure a thing as you can get. He won two NCs at UF. Riley still has a lot to prove , IMO. Riley dominated a pathetic conference giving him an easy path the the CFBP. His first year he played UGA pretty close, then got whooped by Bammer and annihilated by LSU.

He has the charisma and recruiting chops to do very well at USC, but time will tell if he's able to compete nationally with the big boys, because he really didn't at OU another blue blood program with an easy path to the playoff. Far from a sure thing.

I think the only sure thing about him at USC is he'll be a significant improvement over Clay Helton. Whether or not he restores USC into a true dominant force in CFB, I agree, remains to be seen.

I fully expect he will get them to the same level he had OU. I'm not sold on him getting them further until I see it.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing that Riley can take USC and the talent in LA to wining the PAC and getting to the CFP, and not much further. That's been my sentiment. And that's nowhere near the level that Carroll had them. And I also don't think Riley rules the Pac 12 in the same way. Oregon will be a thorn in his side

All ya gotta do is get by Phil Knight and his uniforms. Looked up the conference record - USC has won 39 championships - Washington and UCLA are tied for second with 17.

Utah should also be upper tier on a regular basis, I believe.

Riley should be able to take over the Pac 12, which is basically what he did in the Big 12.

Winning the Pac 12 now isn't what it was when Carroll was winning the Pac 10.

I agree that Riley could win the Pac 12 every year once he gets established, but that doesn't necessarily mean that USC will be a true national powerhouse like they were under Cheaty Petey.

Riley might be able to do that, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Pete didn't have NIL going for him. Imagine what he could have accomplished if he'd had that.

Yeah, Riley will make them his west coast version of OU. And that led to how many NCs again

Still being a couple scholarships over 85, I don't see Ohio State taking any transfers before this season. It probably would be nice to get some depth on the offensive line; however, a marquee offensive lineman isn't going to transfer to Ohio State to be second string anyway.

You don’t think we have a chance with Mims?

I have absolutely no inside information whatsoever; however, I'll say "no".

1) I believe that Mims is transferring from Georgia because he wants to start.

A 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman out of Cochran, Georgia, Mims was a top-10 player in the 2021 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, and rated as the best prospect in a Georgia recruiting class that finished No. 4 in the country. He enrolled early in January 2021 and appeared in eight games during his freshman season. With the starter's reps at tackle held down by Broderick Jones and Warren McClendon, though, it was going to be difficult to crack the starting lineup at that position in 2022.

I really don't think he'd beat out Paris Johnson or Dawand Jones at Ohio State either, they both are just that good. In addition, he's not going to transfer anywhere just to sit on the bench. He'll look that any prospective school's depth chart at offensive tackle and chose his best options there, etc.

2) Ohio State is over the 85 starship limit so if they do take another guy it would have to be a "position of real need", an "immediate impact" guy, and definite upgrade of who we have now slotted for the position.
