What happened to my ¤cash?
OK, so I know, I know... Lori is an OU alumni and I don't know exactly where else to drop this, but since she's covered tOSU as she has, I figured this is as good as any...

Not sure if any of you heard, she was let go by the Fan last week.

I find it really sad as I thought that she was one of the best out there... week in and week out, she was great.

Mods, please move if not in an appropriate forum.

Sad news and universally beloved. This is a really tough field of work these days.

Good to know that she is 'universally beloved.' She's always struck me as a good one, but you never know the 'stage' from reality. I did @Jerry Emig the other day and suggested that he find a place for her. She'd be excellent in that kind of role. Not sure if she would want to give up being the 'scoop' or not. I'd also love to see her somehow associated with the B1G Network. I think that she's got that level of talent.

Great journalist but a bore who does not improve ratings.

Never have been a consumer of the Fan... being in Chicago and all... but I find it surprising that she is boring? I very much enjoyed her small portions of interviews of players / coaches. Actually, looked forward to her questions over guys like Tim May and that crew. Those dudes are vapid.

Yeah, that's what ESPN doesn't need, great journalists. Their business strategy is to minimize the cost of covering the beat & outsource it to the AP and other news outlets. So long as someone else pays for real journalists to help give them news, the strategy is viable.

Worst voice I ever heard on radio.

Tim May is a great writer and a good guy.

His questions can be extremely vapid. This is different than outright trolltastic or terrible, like most of Ari's questions (also a great writer, just typically deployed in a particular way).

Trolltastic, that’s for sure. And what I was saying above about Lori goes both ways. We don’t know these people on a personal level the way I’m sure you know many of them. I’m sure that some of what we see is a byproduct of who they are writing for, similar to the characters on espn / fox / B1G. They could be great on the air and total d-bags off... or the reverse may be the case. I’m happy to hear that someone I like (Lori) is well thought of and equally happy to hear that someone that I’m meh about is also well liked.

I think Tim is one of the more interesting writers out there. He's also one of the most senior guys (if not the most), so he has a lot of leeway, and Tim tends to go on circuitous journeys during the limited press conferences. Vapid may not be the right word choice (I take the purdy pics, I don't do the typin), but it can certainl ybe a bit out there.

Some of my frustration with Ari is because he's not Bruce Hooley or Skip Bayless. He's not without value if he's not trolling.

I don't know them as well as the beat reporters, as my time with them is limited (thankfully I have limited time in press rooms), but Lori seems to be universally loved.

I despise Bruce Hooley using her as a way to take revenge on being fired from The Fan, but there was some merit in his trolling of Bobby Carpenter (which was misdirected at Bobby) in that she provided so much substance and insight behind the scenes. Surely there were other ways to trim the budget.
