Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

And we have a 9 game road trip upcoming, with the Suns coming up next... With Bynum we are one of the best three teams in the west, one of the best 4 in the league, without, well, let's just say it's going to be a long 8 weeks. He'll be back by playoffs, I just hope we can get the 5-7 seed with Bynum back we should be able to irritate someone :)

Congrats StarBucks, we seriously miss Bynum, it's obvious how big of a difference he makes. Like I have said in the past, our great teams are built on a great center, we have the potential, I just hope he gets healthy sooner than expected.

Thanks, I laughed at Amare's avoidance of the Bynum question at half time. He credited the Suns playing better "D", but, didn't say a word about AB not being in. I fell asleep for the 2nd half... I still feel they need to give Turniaf a bulk of the minutes at center.

The guys played the way I want them to play tonight. They shared the ball, they passed the ball to who ever was getting hot and they never panicked when they fell behind. The loss of Bynum, is huge, but it's not the end of the world, and the sooner the team realized that, the better they will be. If the play team basketball, they can compete with most teams in the league, let's be realistic here, there are a few "great teams" and a lot of "decent teams." They should be able to take out the later.

Now for the bad news: Trevor Ariza is out for 8 Weels

Now, I realize most people don't know who Ariza is, but he's on the second team, he scores well, he brings a lot of energy to the court because he's a decent shooter, shares and is just happy to actually be playing. Those types of players can make your team.

Turiaf needs to be starting in place of Kwame, granted, Kwame did have a decent game tonight and made some apology for his recent play in a local paper, but it still doesn't change the fact that Turiaf makes better decisions, has overall better play and isn't the over-rated player that Brown is.

At the end of the night, Lakers fans, enjoy a taco.

Times are rough OC? Not playing great of late... and now down to the Knicks at home going into the 4th. To top it off, about to head on a 9 game road trip. I mean I'm not one to talk, the Suns did lose to the T-Wolves twice this year. But Bynum's injury is really hurting.

"acquired Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies in exchange for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and first-round picks in 2008 and 2010"

I think Gasol is very good... but the price paid was way too much

I bet there's conditions on those draft picks. Brown is a joke, Crittenton is alright. And the first rounders will probably be towards the bottom of the draft, because the Lakers will be good for the foreseeable future. So all in all I think that's a great addition for a championship run. Bynum, Odom, Gasol, Kobe and Fischer... tough 5. Lakers made out well.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Lakers bolstered their banged-up frontline Friday with a key acquisition -- 7-footer Pau Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers gave up Kwame Brown, rookie Javaris Crittenton and two first-round draft picks for Gasol. The Spaniard is certain to help a Lakers team reeling from recent injuries to inside players, including blossoming center Andrew Bynum.
Gasol, averaging 18.9 points and 8.8 rebounds in 39 games this season, can fill in at center until Bynum returns in mid-March and then move to power forward.

If the Lakers can do this why can't the Cavs pull off something like this? They should be able to get Kidd for two tin cans, some string, and two first round picks. I would have traded Gooden and Z for Gasol and one of their PG's.

ESPN - Sources: Grizz sending Gasol to Lakers for Brown - NBA

Big upgrade on the post for us. Have to ask though, what need do the Grizzlies have at PG? They have Conley and Lowry, why would they demand Crittenton too?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Crittendon was being looked at as a 2 instead of point.

What price would that be? IF the Lakers are a perennial playoff team; then the need for first round picks is pretty low. As far as money, Buss can afford to go over the luxury tax ceiling IF it brings him success (and thus, ticket sales).

Can the Cavs afford to give up players of consequence AND draft picks? The Lakers gave up trash and two first round draft picks, because Memphis wanted financial lee-way. I just don't think the Cavs were in a position to benefit or give benefit.
