Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

As a Laker fan i really do like the hire. I think we could be a lot better if we had a more defensive minded coach, like Brown. Also, Brown took the Cavs to the Finals with basically LeBron and no supporting cast...i'm sure he can put something great together with another star (Kobe) and a great support cast. It's sad to see Phil leave, but i think it's a good change for the team and franchise.

I certainly mean you no offense, but I don't believe you watched enough Cavs games under Brown. I gave it 23 games before you want him gone. :p

This is definitely classic photo (w/Chamberlin a Laker and Abdul-Jabbar a Buck):

Just so the thread isn't a total waste:

Although Magic has the final say on everything, the Lakers new GM is a ScUMmer and Kobe Bryant's agent (Rob Pelinka), who has no front office experience. But many agents are moving towards NBA front offices, so that's no biggie.

I hope the Lakers embrace a little bit of analytics with the new regime.

But Pelinka is a ScUMmer. Hope he does well. But he's a ScUMmer.

Ha! Who the Hell would he sign with, then?

It’s not like a team is going to sign me and some other dude just to land LeBron. We’re talking about signing non-NBA caliber players to sign Lonzo Ball? Get that weak shit outta here, LaVar.

My guess? Lakers DGAF

I'm assuming Lonzo's bankrolling his whole family right now and they're blowing through his money fairly quickly. He also has a kid on the way. My guess is the moment Lavar tells him to take a deal in the Chinese league for the "global brand" and "marketing opportunities" over the $20M+/year the Lakers are going to have on the table is finally the moment he tells Lavar to fuck off.

I was going to say that the Lakers aren’t going to offer $20M+ after the rookie deal but I forgot that $20M in the NBA is mediocre player money.

Not anymore it's not. The Lou Williams deal changed the entire landscape.

Lonzo's going to have to decide between his future and his family soon enough. That future won't be with the Lakers if LeBron comes, though. He isn't dealing with LaVar.
