Rumor: Lakers owner Jeanie Buss pushed Magic Johnson to draft Lonzo Ball

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN:
What I’m about to say, Magic Johnson would categorically probably deny. That’s my friend, my brother. I love him. If Magic Johnson was sitting next to me on national television and he said opposite or contrary to what I’m about to tell you, I’d tell him, “That’s a d— lie, and you know it.”
Magic Johnson would not have drafted Lonzo Ball if were not for Jeanie Buss.
Jeanie Buss needed a box-office draw. LaVar Ball, the marketing wizard that he is, put his son in our minds’ eye, had us thinking this brother out of Chino Hills starring for UCLA is going to be special in the pros.

So did Buss let him do what he wanted (as Magic said when he stepped down) or not?

Whoever's idea it was to take Ball, it was a dumb one. Not worth the circus and good luck getting value in a trade with his idiot dad in tow.

Davis is a great player, but this leaves the Lakers with Grandpa LeBron and nothing else

I hope Kuzma and KCP see that comment.

Oh, and just wait until they ink Kemba. That would be a stacked starting 5 but a thin, thin bench.. ...all just conjecture of course.

I grew up in So Cal in the Showtime 80s era and was fully addicted to the Lake Show so it will always be in my blood.

If they’re worried about a comment on a Buckeye message board, they’re even worse off than I thought
