Low Carb Mania..A Fad or Here to Stay?

Atkins does not help to lower your salts or cholesterol, it in fact usually makes it worse. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and clogged arteries will probably be quick to follow
Hmm, do you have any documented proof of this or is just speculation on your part?

There are several advantages to high fat diet, not necessarily the Atkins diet, though its very hard to stay on it...at least for me. You gotta watch out because the 5-10 pounds you lose in the first week is mostly just water, and you will put that back on once you go off the diet.

The best NO-CARB diet for 2004!

NO C-heney

NO A-shcroft

NO R-umsfeld

NO B-ush

and "Absolutely NO RICE!"

Although I understand there is good protein in bush

Seriously, after the hammering I am going to take for that joke, it takes both a committed diet and exercise routine to do it right. Ever notice how people who lose a lot of weight fast tend to gain it back plus some.

My cholesterol went from 214 in December to 138 in January to 97 at the begining of May. My blood pressure was in the 150's over 100's. Now I'm in the low 130's over the high 80's. And I've been off all medication since the beginning of April. I think it all depends on how you approach it. We alot of grilled and baked chicken and pork, and salads. The worst thing we eat is probably deep fried chicken wings. I'm sure some people eat a lot of eggs, bacon, and other fried foods that would spike your cholesterol.

I guess in order for us to keep the weight off we can never go off the diet. Everything we have read tells us it's a life style change, not a diet. So I hope they keep the "low carb" stuff coming, and I'll keep walking my 2 miles a night, 4 times a week.

I know I feel a lot better than I did 6 months ago, and the doc is happy with results. And hopefully I'll see my boy run on to the grass of the shoe for the Bucks one day!
