Lowe's or Home Depot?

I just had my kitchen redone by Lowe's and their contractors (although I had my own contractor do the electrical work and the backsplash tiling). They did a great job, starting with their designer in the kitchen area. She's an excellent project manager and did a great job staying on top of everything. I was very impressed and would recommend that Lowes store (and designer) to anyone.

In fact, the contractor said he stopped working for his old Lowes store when she moved to her present location. Even though the jobs are further away, he likes working for her because she does such a great job of coordinating everything.

On the other hand, my Brother-in-Law in Cincinnati had his kitchen redone by Home Depot and also had a wonderful experience. I'm sure the success stories and levels of service vary on a store-by-store basis.

Well, still have some money left on my HD gift card and I was out of water softener salt so I figured I use the gift card for the salt, pretty simple request right?

Well, I get there and they are out of the salt I need so I need to drive to the Lowe's on the other end of Quahog to get the salt.
