LSU Baseball (official thread)

Official 2022 baseball roster!

4 Graduate Students
1 5th-year Senior
5 Redshirt Juniors
10 Redshirt Sophomores
13 Sophomores
9 Freshmen

16 RHP
4 LHP
9 Infield
2 First Base
3 Catchers
6 Outfield
1 Infield/Outfield
1 Outfield/First Base

I think Priester left, which sucks. I don't think this decision was based on talent. With Priester gone, I'm a little surprised they didn't keep Wyeth. Johnson did mention recently that Travinski would be evaluated in the spring and there was a chance of him playing. With Wyeth being released, perhaps they are somewhat confident in Travinski's return. I can't see going into the season with two catchers.

Brady and Gause are not surprising to me but I also felt Fowler might be on the bubble as well. Fowler has good stuff but struggled with accuracy this fall.

Smith does have a lot of potential but realistically he wasn't going to play much this year and when new talent arrives for the 2023 season he could be buried on the depth chart again. This probably came down to Beloso or Smith as back up first base and Beloso gives us the best chance to win in 2022.

I can't wait for Feb 18th...fuck Maine!

Woodydamn, I do love baseball so.

same here.
I grew up in a baseball family.

My grandfather played semi-pro ball. Missed playing in same traveling circuit as DiMaggio by 2 years.

My Uncle was first ever 2 time Louisiana state MVP in baseball. Was drafted by Cards out of High School, but chose to hang them up and go to school.

Dad was allegedly most physically talented of the whole family, but focused on basketball instead.

me? was almost always fasted on team. had a GREAT glove, but below average arm (middle infielder).
Always hit for a high average, but no real power.
Could rake against heat. You weren’t sneaking a fastball past me. But a decent breaker could make me look stupid.

We all found that level where we were up against something we couldn’t handle and that was that.

I can remember the sounds and smells of running out on that field like the sun on my fucking skin.
