LSU Tigers (official thread)

so i wake up this evening and sit back to look at the whole picture.

if Mississippi St is hands down the best team on our schedule, we could still conceivably go 9-3 ish.

but in the 112 years we've been playing them, that's never come close to being true about them.

so i'm thinking we a 6-6 type team this year.

and that should be a fireable offense here.
but the Ogre has a $12mil buyout, so that's not happening either.

which leads me to this being the first time in 20+ years that i'm not excited about upcoming games.
i mean i'm morbidly curious and will watch every game on a hope and a prayer.
but can't say i'm excited.

I doubt it's *that* bad. Miss St took advantage of some ridiculous time of possession opportunities. IIRC, there was a 20 minute in-game gap between two offensive possessions for the Tigers, straddled over halftime, and LSU's offense went well over an hour in real time without touching the ball.

That is a ridiculous anomaly.

Not that bad?!!?

If you add up all of the losses to Mississippi St from our previous 6 head coaches, it’s STILL not by 30 fucking points.

You have add up our 3 worst coaches of the past 40 years together to equal the number of career losses to Miss St as what O has in 4 attempts.

And we’ve been playing these jack asses for 112 years now.

So either they are historically good this year, or we are terrible.

Considering the history of their program and the history of our head coach, which of the above is more likely to be true?

I mean, maybe it really is that bad. I was just trying to make you feel better.

Don’t know how bad it really is just yet.

But as a fan of LSU who is old enough to remember the dark ages, it doesn’t look good.

Curley Hallman is far and away the worst coach in our history. Only guy to never have a winning season here. His name is a 4 letter word in Louisiana. Absolutely horrendous tenure.

O has coached the exact same number of SEC games as Curley as of this past weekend.
And he’s looking UP at Curley in the career wins column.

seriously.

if O goes 90-4 over the next 7 years or so, he’ll have the same career record as the guy who just got fired for “being too mediocre”.

Yeah a lot teams end up doing this once thy see some success. See Illinois/Minnesota in the last 20 years. Neither has recovered to the past coaches that were "too mediocre." Though obviously they didn't hit the heights of LSU
