LSU Tigers (official thread)

our fan base is fucking baffling to me.

for over a decade, anything and everything that went wrong with this program was Les Miles’ fault. even Katrina (hit before he ever even coached a game for us) was somehow his fault.

for 7 years or so, they’ve done nothing but proclaim the program is in a decline.

his worst season since 2011 (when the “decline” started)?
4 losses. one time. in 2014.

now we got Shrimp Boat as our HC, and everything is someone other than Shrimp Boat’s fault.

back to back 4 loss seasons, and we’re “trending up”?!!?

offense was statistically worse than it’s been in at least 5 years (fewer yards and fewer points).
and we lost FOUR games against the weakest schedule we’ve played since sometime in the 90s.

historic loss to Mississippi State.
previous 5 losses to them combined isn’t as big as the one this year.
first ever loss to a Sunbelt team.

at least Les beat teams like those.

our yearly 2 TD loss to Bama.
and a last minute bowl loss to ND amid chaos and controversy surrounding a coordinator (same exact thing that happened in 2014 season).

somehow these ignorant coonasses view this as a fucking improvement.

Nick Saban just makes opposing fanbases lose their collective minds.

i’m not one of those fans who think we should win a title every year or fire everyone.

i do however think that with all of the advantages LSU has, that we should at least be in contention and discussion for the division/conference late in November every year.

we have the money.
we have the facilities.
we have the support of the fan base.
we’re the only show in town in a talent rich state.
we have close to twenty years of brand recognition now (since before some incoming recruits were even born)
we’re going to be pumped up by the media due to being SEC.

other schools with far less advantages have beaten Saban over the last 7 years.
Auburn’s beat him twice, A&M beat him, Ole Miss beat him twice

no, you’re not going to beat him every year.
but he’s not so infallible that you can’t beat him once every 2-3 years.

4 years/$10M for Aranda.

I know nothing about him. Is there a reason he isn't a HC somewhere already? Is he waiting out Shrimp Boat?

i think Aranda is a phenomenal DC.

don’t know if he’s HC material though.
he’s a quiet cerebral type. doesn’t make much noise or show much emotion on the sidelines.
listening to him in interviews, he comes across as a cfb defense nerd.

Bring in a new OC to change on offense that has sloth players recruited by Les Miles for his neanderthal offensive system. Give said OC one year then part ways before he gets his players and system in place.

LSU-LSU-LSU!!

actually, most of Les’ players were rather ill suited to play his style of offense.
which made our offense even worse than it would have been in its own.

i mean we’ve had some stud RBs that would have prospered in any system.

but every other position damn near was built for spread offenses.
we just never ran any spread

Canada parting of ways is official. Being paid $1.7 million of the $3.3 mil he was due.

By the way, this is the fourth time in the last five job stops that Canada has lasted just one season (NIU - 2011, Wisky - 2012, Pitt - 2016, LSU - 2017).

lot of rumors floating around that LSU will promote Steve Ensminger and Jerry Sullivan to Co-OCs.

if the above names make you ask "who?"
it's because Ensminger hasn't been a full-time OC since '98 (a couple interim stints since then including LSU in '16) and Sullivan was only an OC for one year (2003 with the Cardinals and finished dead last in the NFL).
