LSU Tigers (official thread)

Canada parting of ways is official. Being paid $1.7 million of the $3.3 mil he was due.

By the way, this is the fourth time in the last five job stops that Canada has lasted just one season (NIU - 2011, Wisky - 2012, Pitt - 2016, LSU - 2017).
Something tells me he's not as good as many thinks...

lot of rumors floating around that LSU will promote Steve Ensminger and Jerry Sullivan to Co-OCs.

if the above names make you ask "who?"
it's because Ensminger hasn't been a full-time OC since '98 (a couple interim stints since then including LSU in '16) and Sullivan was only an OC for one year (2003 with the Cardinals and finished dead last in the NFL).
I personally don't think LSU will challenge again until you get a new head coach... opinion?

i don’t think he is any type of savior, but those stops can be explained.

voluntarily left NIU to go to a much bigger job at Wisconsin.

Bert left following that season, so he was looking for a job again.

left Pitt to go to a much bigger job at LSU.

problems start at a much higher level than HC.

LSU’s entire power structure (President, Board of Supervisors, AD, HC, and possibly soon to be OC) is a case study in cronyism, and good-ole boy politics that have doomed this state for 2 centuries now.

need to clean house from the top down.

Dave Aranda (our DC) is the only person in that entire structure i’d be interested in keeping.

but if we lose him as a casualty in the process of wiping out everyone else, so be it.

Order 66 needs to be executed. and soon.

I just want Orgeron to stay JUUUUSSST long enough so that OSU could pull at least ONE of those massive DTs.

may have just signed his death warrant.

news dropped right at kickoff that emsinger/sullivan will be the OC choice.

such a great hire that they had to wait and dump the news during the NCG
Fuck, man. I feel for ya. I actually really admire the LSU fan base, and you all deserve so much better. It seems like there’s probably some dark days ahead. This thing seems to be heading for a cliff, and I suspect it’ll crater with a 3-9 type season soon enough. But, like you mention, if changes aren’t made on the admin side, I can’t see you all pulling the right kind of coach to turn it around to where you want to be. I’m still, over a year later, flabbergasted that Orgeron got the job.

we also just hired Mandeville High School's former head coach as an offensive analyst.

that would be the high school O's son attended.
no, his son isn't a college prospect.

so it’s official now.
Ensminger as OC.

so going into next year we lose:
5th year Sr QB
top 2 RB
top 2 WR
starting FB
at least 2 Olinemen (possibility of 2 more declaring for draft)

and we just hired an OC that hasn’t installed an offense since the Clinton administration.
our projected starter at QB wasn’t even born yet last time Steve was an OC.

Geesh, you should adopt the Browns as your favorite NFL team, for balance.

Given the concentration of talent they have in their immediate neighborhood, possibly better than anyone else's, that would take some serious mismanagement for LSU to become Rich-Rod-Michigan. Worse than Rich-Rod-Michigan mismanagement.

nah, i really don’t watch the NFL and haven’t for a long time now.

that talent didn’t just pop up recently
that talent has always been here.

LSU just struggled to get them because prior to Saban, we had a loooong string of “good ole boy” political coaching hires. and shitty coached eventual suck at recruiting.

So people like Warrick Dunn and Travis Minor went to FSU even though they played HS ball less than 15 min from LSU campus.

the list of stud Louisiana college football players that didn’t play at LSU is freaking impressive.

and Saban has been steadily taking more and more from us once again.

Kid who caught the winning TD was a 5 star from Amite, LA (about an hour from Baton Rouge)
